Identifies the physiological mechanisms underlying physical activity, the comprehensive delivery of preventative services concerned with the analysis, improvement, and maintenance of health and fitness, heart disease and other chronic diseases and/or disabilities, and the professional guidance and counsel of athletes and others interested in athletics, sports training, and human adaptability to acute and chronic exercise.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES PER AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY
1. Reviews medical and/or surgical history, recent events, co morbidities, diagnostic tests, medications and risk factors.
2. Reviews physician prescription to determine abilities and goals for treatment such as frequency,
intensity, time and type of exercise therapy most beneficial to participants. Interview participants to
obtain medical history or assess participant goals.
3. Assists participants with exercise program using appropriate monitoring, including intermittent vital sign and oxygen saturation checks. Modifies program based on participant response as needed and/or requested, while staying within physician-ordered parameters.
4. Provide education and support regarding exercise techniques, stress reduction and coping skills based on the participant risk factors and discharge plans.
5. Develop exercise programs to improve participant, strength, flexibility, endurance, or circulatory functioning, in accordance with exercise science standards, regulatory requirements, and credentialing requirements.
6. Consults with Physician in event of adverse reactions.
7. Maintains participant information in gym software
8. Inspects and tests Wellness equipment to ensure equipment is functioning safely and efficiently.
Examines equipment to detect worn, loose connections, or other indications of disrepair, and notifies supervisor of need for maintenance. Orders repairs when needed.
9. Cleans and disinfects equipment used in the Wellness areas.
10. Data collection and entry for physician referral tracking. Provide monthly/quarterly reports.
11. Interacts positively with new recruits presenting the organization in a positive manner.
12. Lead supervised group exercise classes (Strength & Cardio, Special Population classes, Group
Personal Training).
13. Lead group education and coaching programs (Cooking Matters, Diabetes Prevention Program,
and Health Education Classes).
14. Operate as an innovative, thought leader in wellness programs: contribute significantly to the overall growth & quality of wellness at HRRMC.
15. Remain current on best-practice wellness trends as well as competitor trends to ensure cuttingedge programming at HRRMC.
16. Participate in implementing a results based HRRMC employee wellness program.
17. Perform evaluative procedures necessary to determine proper treatment including, but not limited
to: Sub-Maximal Stress Testing, Barometric Measures, and Health Risk Assessments.
18. Utilize SMART goals and motivational interviewing techniques to determine short and long term goals.
19. Provide coverage when a primary instructor for a class is absent.
20. Regularly reassess and modify participant wellness programs.
21. With participant permission, provide progress reports to physicians.
22. Promoting Wellness Programs to the community and business for education in prevention and
treatment options.
23. Answer incoming inquiries about wellness programs and schedule/register prospective participants.
24. Instruct clients one-on-one through individualized nutrition & fitness programs, tailored to the results that the clients wish to achieve.
