Welder/Fabricator - Canon City

Position Overview

The welder/fabricator position is responsible for performing various duties including welding on construction and/or paving equipment. The employee will generally work in utility capacity by transferring from one task to another where demands are required. $21.00 - $27.00 per hour DOE 

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Weld and assemble metal components relating to construction equipment.
  • Follow and maintain safety protocols and report any issues or incidents.
  • Contribute to company data by accurately tracking and documenting activities.
  • Load and unload cargo
  • Effectively communicate with supervisors and colleagues.
  • Assist managers on the development and maintenance of job descriptions for all positions.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and alignment with best practices by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures.
  • Partner with managers on strategic workforce planning, employee development and learning initiatives.

 

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Education/Experience

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Driver License required
  • 1-2 years of experience as welder/fabricator
  • Experience in a building materials/construction industry preferred.

 

Work Requirements

  • Must be 18 years in age or older.
  • Must have the ability to weld.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Report to the shop dressed appropriately and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Willingness to work independently within in a team environment and assist the team with other duties as required.
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required (up to 50% of the time).
  • Other duties may be assigned.

 

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Demonstrate a hands-on, collaborative approach; work well in a team. 
  • Demonstrate comfort in communicating and partnering with senior level executives on sensitive employee issues.
  • Strong skill in planning and organization, as well as skills in project management.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in construction and paving.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. 
  • Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely

 

 

Physical Requirements

  • Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Able to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and hear.
  •  Able to work in all weather conditions.
  • The employee is frequently required to sit, climb, and use hands.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hand and arms above their shoulders.
  • Must be able to exert 10-20 lbs. constantly to move objects, 25-50 lbs. of force frequently, and 50-100 lbs. of force occasionally.
