Job Description:
Trinidad State College is seeking a Webmaster who will play a critical role in shaping the public presence, positioning, and branding of Trinidad State College (TSC) by creating and executing web-based strategies to advance and promote TSC as the preferred higher education choice in southern Colorado.
Under the direction of the Senior Director of Marketing, the Webmaster is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, operations, updates, and improvement of the official college website(s) and social media channels. The webmaster will ensure that all web pages comply with appropriate policies, guidelines and standards. The Webmaster will evaluate, implement and promote services, software and channels that meet the college’s Web-based promotional, communication and messaging needs.
Other assigned duties may include special projects in conjunction with the System Office (CCCS), TSC executive staff, academics, workforce, student development and outreach efforts of the college. This position will be located on the Trinidad Campus but serves both campuses located in Trinidad and Alamosa.
Examples of Duties
- Manages the content and organization of new and existing web pages, coordinates web functionality.
- Monitors web and social media activities.
- Establishes standard processes including workflow, approvals, and publishing; automates common administrative tasks and provides tools and processes regarding user provisioning, access control and workflow.
- Ensures that the websites are professional, accurate, appropriate, and positively reflects the mission of TSC.
- Maintains close working relationships and interactions with the college’s Content Management System provider and website host.
- Provides excellent customer service to all levels of users and ensures timeliness and accuracy of web page information and resolution of problems.
- Ensures compliance with applicable legal requirements and CCCS policies on website usage.
- Creates, maintains and distributes online publications such as newsletters, guides and email blasts.
- Makes day-to-day website updates as needed.
- Provides creative and technical support for as projects which support advertising campaigns, new technologies and social media channels.
- Assist with preparing digital content including graphics for websites, e-marketing and social media. Understanding of the approaches required to drive traffic to website(s).
- Manages the integration of graphical and multimedia components into the website, including audio and video.
Social media development, posting and monitoring.
- Assists with the implementation of social media strategies that will increase brand visibility and traffic across all social platforms.
- Tracks and utilizes key web-based metrics, such as SEO, and other relevant analytic tools
- As needed, college personnel assist with Web page creation and the proper uploading of files and links to the appropriate sites.
- All other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Graphic Design, marketing, or related field; with a minimum of three years’ experience in a Webmaster role.
Work attributes and interpersonal skills- Strong background in Web content, design maintenance and management
- Higher education marketing background preferred.
- Excellent oral, written communication and strong proof-reading skills.
- Strong Attention to detail.
- Ability to work autonomously and proactively.
- Demonstrated ability and success managing multiple projects and deadlines.
- Ability to prioritize and execute a wide range of projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with the varied stakeholders, such as students, faculty, staff and senior leadership.
Web Content Management Skills:
- Experience with dynamic interactive languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP and CGI.
- Knowledge of content management systems such as Omni Update and WordPress.
- Comfortable with other Web-related development technologies and software such as Flash and Dreamweaver; as well as other browser capabilities and compatibility, and responsive design.
Additional Technical Skillsets:
- Keeps current trends in all areas of responsibility and recommends improvements in Web systems and services as needed.
- Strong working knowledge of related digital and graphic design software applications, computer and multimedia technologies.
- Demonstrated expertise with Web-specific technology, such as live stream, social media, web content and digital media; Web standards and compliance requirements, as well as Google products such as Webmaster Tools & Analytics.
- Photography, videography and podcasting skills are a plus
