Job Description:

The Vehicle Maintenance Department is a fun and exciting way to join the ski industry and the Monarch family.  This department is an upbeat, active, and well rounded department that provides opportunities to earn and play in the mountains.  Vehicle Maintenance Mechanics should have a positive attitude, enjoy working on a variety of projects,  and be knowledgeable about all aspects of vehicle maintenance.   Vehicle Maintenance Mechanics will perform inspections, repairs, and maintenance on all vehicles in Monarch’s fleet, to include but not limited to snowcats, snowmobiles, passenger vehicles, and heavy equipment.


  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

The Vehicle Maintenance Mechanic responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Be an effective employee within the guidelines of department and company policies, procedures and values, in fulfillment of Monarch’s mission statement to “provide our guests with a quality, personalized mountain experience.”
  • Work in conjunction with other employees and departments as part of the Monarch team.
  • Perform the inspection, and basic repair and maintenance of vehicles in Monarch's fleet, including passenger vehicles, snowcats, snowmobiles, loaders…etc., as assigned.  
  • Ensure that daily inspection logs and other checklists are legible, updated and current.
  • Communicate with equipment operators in other departments in identifying and clarifying equipment issues.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of, and adhere to, all shop and safety procedures.
  • Keep vehicle inspection and other necessary logs updated in a legible and timely manner.
  • Inform Supervisor of shop supplies needed for reorder.

  • Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality of sensitive materials and situations.
  • Working knowledge of ski area liabilities and human resource laws as applicable in the state of Colorado.
  • Knowledge and skills in welding, metal fabrications, electronic or electrical and mechanical components required.
  • Is flexible with hours and days of work. Can work any hours during the business day including mornings, evenings or split shifts, and any days of the week (including weekends and holidays) 


JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum age 21
  • Legal citizen of the United States or possess other proper work permit authentication.
  • Colorado Driver’s License and good, company insurable driving record required.
  • High School Diploma or GED required, college degree preferred.
  • Knowledge and skills in welding, metal fabrications, electronic or electrical and mechanical components required.
  • Previous experience and/or schooling in diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulic systems or knowledge of ski area machines and operations.
  • Ability to push, lift, and move up to 90 lbs.
  • Requires bending, stretching, reaching, grasping, shoveling and operating hand and power tools.
  • Includes exposure to oils and chemicals (see JHAs).
  • Requires driving vehicles and heavy equipment.
  • Requires working at high elevation (up to 12,000’), with extended exposure to adverse weather conditions, such as severe cold, heavy snowfall, rain, strong winds and intense sun.
