Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center's Imaging Department has a Part Time ( 24 hours per week ) position available for an Ultrasound Technician. This position will be eligible for our employer matching retirement plans, employee gym, and employee assistance program.

A diagnostic medical sonographer provides patient care services using ultrasound and related diagnostic procedures. The sonographer gathers pertinent data related to the ordered procedure and evaluates clinical history and presentation. The sonographer seeks to optimize patient safety and comfort, diagnostic quality, and efficient use of resources while achieving the diagnostic objectives of the examination through the accurate implementation of a deliberate protocol. Careful evaluation of examination results and precise communication is necessary for continuity of care, accuracy of care and quality assurance through documentation of oral summary of findings to the supervising physician.   

ESSENTIAL DUTIES PER AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY

1. Performs all ultrasonic examinations, including but not limited to: abdominal studies, obstetrical examinations, renal and aortic, gallbladder, small parts, thyroid, pelvic, endovaginal. Performs duplex and color flow examinations on venous, arterial, carotid, limited neurosonography, limited chest for thoracentesis, assisted amniocentesis.

2. Performs bil brachial pressures for carotid exams, and palpate femoral, popliteal, dorsal pedis, posterior tibial and abdominal pulses for arterial studies; with knowledge of stress tests and post exercise pressures.

3. Establishes, maintains, and updates OB measurements and charts manual; performs Level I and Level II OB exams as well as Biophysical Profiles. Develops and maintains all exams history sheets.

4. Preparation of endovaginal probe, cleanup and disinfection of EV probe.

5. Consistently provides quality patient care in a professional atmosphere while performing ultrasound procedures with accuracy and professionalism as prescribed by a physician, acknowledging the special needs of patients, i.e. pregnancy, trauma, sick and/or elderly patients.

6. Assures that any required consent forms are signed prior to examination, and obtains pertinent and adequate history on all patient exams.

4. Must have the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively and adapt to changing priorities; demonstrate resourcefulness and good problem-solving skills.

Requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Must have graduated from an approved school of ultrasonography; and one year related experience and/or training

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Current CPR certification.
  • Must be registered or registry eligible with ARDMS; in absence of licensure (ARDMS), must have the capabilities necessary for the position, by using exam competencies, as determined to be adequate by the Radiologist in charge.
