Job Description:

The TRIO Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) is a federally-funded program at CSU Pueblo with the primary purpose of assisting individuals who are low- income and/or potential first-generation college students in gaining access to higher education.

Description of Job

The individual in this full-time, administrative professional, in-person position is responsible for conducting the day-to-day operations of the TRIO EOC office currently located in Trinidad. In-person support may also be required at the host institution’s other satellite offices, located in Alamosa.

Site coordinators are responsible for assisting clients, records management, supervision of work study employees and database management as relevant. Site coordinators are also responsible for conducting in-person outreach to various area colleges and universities, community agencies, and high schools with the purpose of disseminating information about college and identifying college-ready first generation and low-income participants for the program. Routine travel within Trinidad and other locations within the program’s service area is required.

The Trinidad Site Coordinator is responsible for recruiting a minimum of 250 eligible participants per year, contacting a minimum of 2 community organizations monthly in order to identify potential EOC eligible participants, and conducting a minimum of 1 in-person outreach event per month.

This position is funded through August 31, 2026, through a renewable Department of Education grant. Continuation of the position beyond that date is contingent upon grant renewal by the Department of Education and the successful meeting of the grant objectives.

Primary Duties
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the satellite office. This includes coordination with host institution, responding to inquiries, scheduling appointments and supervising any student employees.
  • Provide in-person services to program participants including:
    • providing information about college, and careers
    • assistance in applying for college admissions, student financial aid and scholarships
    •  referrals to college readiness, GED programs, and community agencies
    •  other assistance as necessary to facilitate college enrollment and funding
  • Perform client intakes, determine program eligibility, select participants, assess services needed to achieve educational goals, and develop participant service plan.
  • Enter information about participants and services provided into database and maintain hard copy files for all participants, ensuring participant records are complete and in order. Complete monthly error checks and file audits. Facilitate completion of the Annual Performance Report (APR).
  • Plan and implement community outreach in assigned service area. This includes individual and group meetings, representing the program at events, and conducting workshops for potential participants, parents and staff members of community organizations, secondary and postsecondary institutions.
  • Track participant progress in completing critical tasks identified in the participant service plan, including enrollment of participants in postsecondary education.
  • Provide zoom or phone services to participants unable to physically access site/campus for services.

Ancillary Duties
Attend professional development conferences and training.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or higher
  • Valid unrestricted driver’s license
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience in a position or activity that required knowledge of college admissions & financial aid processes
  • Professional or life experience that resulted in knowledge of barriers encountered by first-generation and low –income students
  • Experience with, or commitment to, working in a diverse workplace and/or serving a diverse population
Preferred Qualifications 
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Behavioral/Social Science, Education, Student Services or related discipline
  • Verbal fluency in Spanish
  • Familiarity with area community agencies and high schools
