Position Type: Full-time, 162 days per year

Location: District/Transportation

Salary: Pay for this position is determined by the Bus Drivers Salary Schedule based on years of experience and education.

Salary Range $13.61 - $14.42 an hour. An additional $1.00 per hour for every in person hour of instruction/service for the 22-23 school year.

Purpose of the Job: Operates under general guidelines provided by a supervising teacher under the direction of the Bus Driver and Transportation Manager and provides general support for the transportation of students including specific special educational assistance to students. For Special Education implements specialized programming and/or support both to and from the educational institution.

  • Be knowledgeable about the job.
  • Always strive to stay on task and produce high quality work.
  • Under the direction of the supervising bus driver, implement schedules and routines, communicate with parents, work 1-to-1, based on Individualized Education Plan.
  • Meet the educational, physical and emotional needs of students assigned.
  • Must be Mandt trained or be willing to be trained as necessitated by the District.
  • Implements appropriate physical and technical safeguards to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of district data.
  • May include inside or outside supervision of students, at times during inclement weather.
  • Maintains good security practices with passwords and accounts to the various district systems and applications.
  • Reports actual or suspected breaches in the confidentiality, integrity or availability of district data to appropriate district personnel
  • Follows all board policies for acceptable use of district technology.
  • May be required to transport students in district vehicle.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Additional Special Education Duties;

  • Maintain confidentiality with special education student information.
  • Carries out instructional programs and lessons in various learning environments as directed by the teacher and/or special education teacher per the student(s) Individual Education Plan (IEP).
  • May be required to maneuver and secure wheelchairs while using appropriate procedures to transfer/lift students to and from wheelchairs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

DUTIES:

  • Operates assigned school bus in compliance with procedures contained in the District’s policy and procedures, including all local, state and federal laws and Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Rules.
  • Performs daily pre and post route safety inspections on assigned vehicles.
  • Maintains student conduct that ensures the safety of all students.
  • Assists students with boarding and exiting the bus as necessary.
  • Coordinates with Manager of Transportation and Transportation Secretary to insure all required information is current and accurate.
  • Completes appropriate paperwork and electronic documentation in a timely manner.
  • Attends training programs, meetings and in-services as required by the District or CDE.
  • Administers first aid as necessary.
  • Reports all accidents/incidents immediately to transportation management or appropriate authorities.
  • Possess skills to be able to utilize basic technology as directed by the District to communicate and function effectively.
  • Uphold district school vehicle passenger rules.
  • Maintain an acceptable standard of cleanliness of vehicle.

Skills, Knowledge, Equipment Other:

  • Variety of standard office equipment and other specialized equipment based on individual student’s accommodations and modifications.
