Location: Salida, CO.

Job Description:

The SMMS Substitute Teacher is hired by and accountable to the SMMS Co-School Directors. The position is part-time and on site.

Required Experience

  • 1+ years of substitute teaching experience

  • Background check required 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assisting lead teacher in preparing the learning environment for developmental level being served in accordance with the Montessori educational method.

  • Assisting lead teacher in establishing rules and behavioral expectations. 

  • Reinforcing and modeling classroom rules and expectations. 

  • Supervising children in the classroom and play yard.

  • Maintaining a healthy, clean, and safe environment for the children in your care.

  • Observing and responding to children's needs, emergencies, and conflicts that may occur while they are at the school.

  • Following the school's policies and professional practices.  

  • Other duties as assigned by the Director or lead teacher.

Compensation

This is a part-time position. Hourly pay range is $18-20 per hour on an as needed basis with a minimum four-hour shift each time. No benefits are offered for this position.
