Job Description

Job Type: Part time, Hourly

Wage: $20.30/hr.

Location: Westcliffe, CO.

Job Description:

Hours:  Four hours a day, split shift (6:30 - 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 - 5:30 pm)

Job Description:  Provide safe and efficient transportation so that students my enjoy the fullest 
possible advantage from the District’s curriculum and extra-curricular programs.


Qualifications:
1.    Be a minimum of 21 years of age.
2.    Motor vehicle record in good standing checked prior to and annually
3.    Receive a minimum of 8 hours pre-service training for appropriate vehicle
4.    Receive a minimum or 6 hours in-service training annually
5.    Pass an appropriate CDE written test annually with 80% score or better
6.    Complete a driving performance evaluation prior to and annually
7.    Acquire a CPR/First Aid certificate within 90 days after initial employment and
renew every 2 years thereafter
8.    Complete a DOT physical at initial employment and renew when applicable
9.    Acquire and possess thereafter a CO CDL with “S” and “P” endorsements
10.  Complete and pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and participate in
the school district’s drug and alcohol testing program.
11.  Receive mountain and adverse weather driver training and pass a written
test with an 80% or better
12.  Participate in the district’s finger print and background check program

Reports to:  Transportation Director


Performance Responsibilities:
1.    Obey all traffic laws
2.    Observe all mandatory safety regulations for school buses
3.    Maintain student discipline on the bus
4.    Report rule infractions to the proper authority (Transportation Director)
5.    Keep bus clean inside and out
6.    Maintain assigned schedule
7.    Perform and document a pre/post trip inspection before/after each run
8.    Report and vehicle defects to the transportation director in a timely manner
9.    Discharge students at authorized stops.
10.  Exercise responsible leadership when on out-of-district trips
11.  Transport only authorized students and staff.
12.  Report all accidents to the transportation director immediately
13.  Inform transportation director of absences in a timely manner and complete paperwork
14.  Insure route changes are approved by the transportation director
15.  Complete daily mileage logs and submit them at the end of each month
16.  Operate a two-way radio
17.  Make suggestions for improving the transportation system
18.  Abide by directives which may come from the superintendent, principals and transportation
director as the situation may require.
