GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Will work under the direction of the Transportation Manager. Drives students to and from school, abiding by all rules and regulations set forth by the School District, along with the Federal and State Government.

 Drive route, manage student behavior, and enforce discipline while on route

 Be able to follow maps and directions, learn all routes

 Maintain complete control of the vehicle and remain alert while on route.

 May at times be required to drive an Activity trip

 Provide care and assistance to children when entering and exiting the bus and when crossing the street.

 Load and unload passengers in wheelchairs using lifts and safety devices.

 Inspect the bus before each trip to ensure the bus is working properly.

 Clean the interior of the bus and exterior driver site windows regularly

 Complete paperwork, daily activity trip logs, time cards, and maintenance write-ups to include student lists and route sheets in a timely matter, continually updating when needed.

 Report breakdowns, emergencies, and delays to the Transportation Department.

 Perform emergency evacuation procedures twice yearly.

 Say and direct emergency evacuation drills on all activity trips

 Maintain driver’s license and DOT physical and keep current.

 Attend CPR and First Aid Training Classes

 Perform other assigned duties.

 Adhere to District Policy and Law in regard to the usage of cell phones while operating any school vehicle.

 Maintain personal driving record.

An individual shall be relieved of duties if: Convicted of DUI, DWAI, or reckless driving; or any drug issues occur. Accrual of more than 8 points in two consecutive years for any offense. Refusal of an alcohol-drug test. Leaving the scene of an accident, or using a vehicle to commit a felony. Other duties may be assigned.

Required Qualifications:

 Minimum age of 18 years

 Obtain a Department of Transportation Physical

 Pass a drug screen and adhere to random drug screens throughout the year

 Must not have criminal convictions for offenses against other people

 Must be able to meet physical standards as described by the Colorado Department of Education

 CDL class B, air brake, and “P”, and “S”, endorsements required; can be obtained through the job with a signed agreement of work through the school year

The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. However, while lifting amounts above 25 pounds a partner must be used. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
