Substitute Bus Driver

Job Description

Full Time

Pay: $12.32/hr.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Operate assigned school bus in compliance with procedures contained in the District’s policy and procedures, including all local, state and federal laws
  • Performs daily pre and post route safety inspections on assigned vehicle
  • Maintains student conduct to insure the safety of all students
  • Completes appropriate paperwork in a timely manner
  • Attends training programs, meetings and in-services as required by the district or the state
  • Promote good feelings and high morale within the School District by maintaining a positive relationship with co-workers and other District employees
  • Administers first aid as necessary
  • Reports all accidents/incidents immediately to transportation management or appropriate authorities
Qualifications:

  • Must have a CDL P2S Class B License or obtain when hired (the school district provides training)
  • Positive individual with neat, clean appearance; pleasant, courteous demeanor
  • Proven work record demonstrating reliability, flexibility and initiative
  • Ability to comply with all State, Federal, Colorado Department of Education and School District policy regulating transportation
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability and demeanor to instruct and control large groups of children or special needs children while safely driving a bus
  • Knowledge of discipline strategies preferred
  • Have good communication skills
  • Able to pass written tests and First Aid course
  • Must pass extensive background check
  • Must have a clean driving record
  • Able to pass CDOT physical including drug test
