Job Description:


3 Rocks Engineering & Surveying is seeking college students with an interest in structural engineering for our Summer 2026 Structural Intern position. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience and explore the structural engineering profession while working on a wide variety of timber, steel, concrete, and masonry structures.  

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the structural team in the design and analysis of vertical structures, including residential and commercial buildings.

  • Aid in the design of foundations and structural elements for diverse clients across many states.

  • Work in the office and field to see how engineering designs transition from the computer to the real world. ​

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Have completed at least two years of a Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering BS program.

  • 0-4 years of experience designing and analyzing structural elements.

  • Direct CAD experience, or have taken drafting classes.

  • Passion for awesome things in Cañon City, Colorado (hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, food, rafting, rock climbing, 4 wheeling, hunting, fishing, etc.).

Preferred:

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or EnerCalc.

  • Experience working at an engineering firm (full-time or internship).

  • Experience in construction or working with a construction contractor. ​

 

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

  • Most days will consist of 8-hour shifts, but occasional longer days may be required. Time worked over 40 hours per week will be paid at time-and-a-half overtime rates.

  • Use of our "company garage"—including equipment such as our rafts, climbing gear, and mountain bikes—is included.

  • This is a seasonal full-time position from May through August. ​

 

COMPENSATION

  • Hourly pay: $17–$22/hour, based on experience.  

 

LOCATION

  • Cañon City, Colorado.
