Job Description:

STREETS MAINTENANCE WORKER (SEASONAL)
Hiring Range: $17.50 per Hour 

Starting pay for a candidate with a CDL is $18.00 per hour

About the Position:
Complete routine maintenance projects including road repairs, chip sealing, sidewalk maintenance, light construction, and concrete work; perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility.

About Grand Junction General Services Streets Division: 
The Streets Division is responsible for the maintenance of approximately 1,150 lane miles of streets.  To accomplish this undertaking, a 12-year maintenance cycle is utilized to perform essential preventive maintenance measures to sustain a quality transportation infrastructure network. Much of the primary preventative maintenance components performed by seasonal maintenance workers are the Crack-fill, Patching, and Chip Seal programs.  Join our dynamic team in our effort to maintain and preserve our streets.

Duties

What You’ll Do:

  • Participate in the construction, repair, and maintenance of roads, irrigation, and storm water systems!
  • Clean and seal cracks
  • Rake, shovel and distribute materials necessary for the completion of jobs.
  • Operate dump trucks and small equipment as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

This position is a safety sensitive position, which means you will be subject to random drug screens due to the nature of the work performed. 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Must be 18+ years of age.
  • Ability to work in all types of weather, including high temperatures in direct sunlight while standing, walking, and/or kneeling
  • Ability to go from one task to another efficiently
  • A team-oriented approach to work
  • Consistent positive attitude and willingness to complete all types of tasks
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions and ability to do basic arithmetic.
  • Possession of a Class “B” Commercial Driver License (CDL) is preferred but not required.
