Job Description:
Job Summary: The Staff Accountant will perform a variety of financial and accounting related clerical duties.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• None
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Prepare periodic reconciliations of general ledger account and subsidiary ledger account balances.
• Analyze daily transaction data, prepare transaction entries and post to the general ledger and / or internal DDA accounts. This includes consideration of money order transactions, MC / Visa cash advances, expense checks, Fed Web activity, etc. Verify transaction entries posted for previous dates.
• Transact / Verify Fed Web transactions in conjunction with the Vice President of Finance or Assistant Controller. This includes ACH processing, wire transfers, check adjustments, etc.
• Calculate and record depreciation of the company’s fixed assets.
• Prepare and post employee credit card monthly activity.
• Prepare, print and post accounts payable transactions as needed and according to policy.
• Assist customers and co-workers over the phone or in-person with questions pertaining to wires, ACHs, foreign currency orders, and transaction research.
• Demonstrate and adhere to Bank policies and procedures.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting
• Understanding of and the ability to apply and adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, and accounting software.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or related field, preferred.
• At least three years of related field or banking experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
