Our accounting team operates from the awesome Emergent Campus at the historic Florence High School, one block off Main Street in quaint Florence, Colorado. Our teams headquartered in rural Colorado and other locations throughout our great nation deliver high performing accounting, bookkeeping, and back-office services to our regional customers.

Florence is located in the middle of Fremont County, the weather capital of Colorado. The region offers a rich variety of hiking, climbing, bicycle trails, rafting, and all things outdoor Colorado. Position Overview:

We’re hiring for a Staff Accountant I to work onsite in Florence, CO. In this position you’ll become part of great team providing accounting and bookkeeping services to our customers. A Second-61 Staff Accountant is responsible for providing critical services for our customers ensuring accuracy and completeness of company financial records. The successful team member will perform various accounting and bookkeeping functions and manage processes to ensure customer success. This is an entry-level position for someone that wants to continue to build their career in accounting. Come join our team!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing financial statements: A Second-61 Staff accountant is responsible for preparing accurate and timely financial statements, such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, that reflect the financial health of the company.
  • Managing accounts payable and receivable: A Second-61 Staff accountant manages accounts payable by processing and recording invoices, ensuring timely payments to vendors, and reconciling vendor statements. They must also manage accounts receivable by processing and recording customer payments, following up on overdue accounts, and preparing aging reports.
  • Performing general ledger accounting: A Second-61 Staff accountant is responsible for maintaining and reconciling the general ledger accounts to ensure the accuracy of the financial statements.
  • Conducting financial analysis: A Second-61 Staff accountants will analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement, and provide insights to management.
  • Assisting with budgeting and forecasting: A Second-61 Staff accountants will assist in the preparation and management of the company's budget and forecast by providing financial data and insights.
  • Assisting with audits and compliance: A Second-61 Staff accountant assists in audits and compliance activities, such as preparing audit schedules and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
  • Performing other accounting duties as required: A Second-61 Staff accountant may be required to perform other accounting duties as needed, such as payroll processing, tax preparation, and financial reporting.
  • Mentoring and Training: Second-61 Bookkeepers will work with junior team members in training and mentoring to ensure their successful performance and growth in the accounting department.

Requirements

  • A solid understanding and experience applying accounting principles including the flow of debits and credits within the general ledger.
  • A desire to prepare the best financial statements possible for our customers.
  • Familiarity and comfort working with accounting software and MS Office applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • It is beneficial if a candidate has a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
