Wage: $43,000-$92,976/yr. 

Location: Leadville, CO.

Job Description:

Length of Assignment; Follows LCSD Calendar Start July 31, 2024 Most weeks are Monday-Thursday.

Salary: LCSD Certified Salary Schedule (SSP placement starts at Step E, MA column for 179 day contract), Salary schedule will be updated when negotiations are finalized.

Excellent Benefits included: 12 PTO days and employer pays for most of Health Insurance premium, Vision and Dental insurance are also offered! FLSA: Exempt position.

General Description of the Role

Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs) screen, assess, and diagnose communication disabilities, and, along with their Speech Language Pathology Assistants, provide individual and group therapy and services to students identified with a communication disability on their Individual Education Plan (IEP). SLPs consult with educational providers and parents, and they participate in IEP processes, acting as case manager when specified. Position is for students across the district.

  • Assess and monitor progress of speech and language services
  • Consult with and provide liaison between staff, teachers, administration, parents, service agencies, and community organizations
  • Schedule in- and out-of-class support

Qualifications

  • Required Education: M.A. in Speech Language Pathology
  • Licensure: Colorado Department of Education Speech Language Pathologist

Qualifications Recommended

  • Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC)
  • American Speech Hearing Association (ASHA) certification

Specific Skills Recommended

  • Knowledge of speech and language pathologies and therapeutic treatments
  • Understanding of the IEP process Interpersonal skills required for establishing and maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships with children and adults contacted in the course of work
  • Effective teaching and supervisory skills
  • Knowledge of the Medicaid system
  • Computer skills (word processing, Internet, e-mail) for correspondence, documentation, scheduling, and accurate record management

Major Areas of Responsibility and Duties Specific to This Job

  • Screen, assess, and diagnose communication disabilities for students preschool through high school
  • Help IEP team develop and implement the IEP
  • Act as a case manager for students requiring speech and language services only as stipulated on the IEP
  • Along with SLP Assistants, provide individual and group therapy and services
  • Assess and monitor progress of speech and language services
  • Consult with and provide liaison between staff, teachers, administration, parents, service agencies, and community organizations
  • Schedule in- and out-of-class support
