Job Description:

Starpoint provides essential services to two vulnerable populations: children and their families and adults with physical and intellectual disabilities. We have been providing services and support to individuals, families, and communities in Fremont, Chaffee, and Custer counties since 1977.

Starpoint seeks an experienced Special Events Coordinator to join our dynamic team and plan, coordinate, and execute various events. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and energetic, working towards Starpoint's goals. They will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.

The Special Events Coordinator's primary responsibility is assisting with the planning, producing, and executing fundraising and events for Starpoint. The coordinator will work with community committee members, staff, and other stakeholders to plan and execute projects and events with fundraising and donor development goals and outcomes.

  • Assist in effectively creating and editing written, video, and photo content.
  • Communicate our mission and engage with donors and supporters.
  • Utilize strong copywriting and copy-editing skills to develop compelling fundraising materials.
  • Plan and execute fundraising events with a focus on creativity and innovation.
  • Brainstorm innovative fundraising ideas to diversify revenue streams.
  • Execute existing fundraisers, including coordinating logistics, providing resources, and offering guidance to ensure their success.
  • Cultivate relationships with community members and businesses to acquire sponsorships, donations, and other forms of support for Starpoint.
  • Coordinate activities and events for Special Olympics participants.
  • Organize and manage internal events for our adult programming, including but not limited to bowling leagues, yearly picnics, and other inclusive activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Passion and curiosity for Starpoint’s vision and objectives.
  • Education in Event Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 2-3 years experience in event coordination, preferably in a non-profit or cultural organization setting.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required by event schedules.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to connect teams and ideas across and outside an organization.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Embraces challenges and ambiguity with optimism and positivity.
  • Highly collaborative and thrives on working in a cross-functional team.
  • Ability to move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds across the building for various program and event needs.
  • Current Driver's License, auto insurance, and dependable vehicle.
  • Pass background checks
