Job Description:
This position supports special education students. The role involves assisting teachers in implementing individualized education programs, supporting classroom management, and fostering a positive learning environment. The ideal candidate is patient, compassionate, and committed to helping students achieve their academic and personal goals. This dynamic role requires dedication to enhancing the educational experience of students with diverse learning needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the implementation of individualized education plans for students.
- Understand basic information about different types of disabilities.
- Able to understand and assist with math instruction at the grade levels assigned.
- Able to understand and assist with literacy instruction at the grade levels assigned
- Support classroom management and assist students during instructional activities.
- Facilitate communication between the student and teacher, adapting materials as necessary.
- Able to utilize effective behavioral strategies.
- Monitor and document student progress, providing feedback to teachers.
- Promote a safe and inclusive environment, encouraging student engagement and participation.
REQUIREMENTS
- Associates Degree Preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience and understanding when working with students with learning disabilities, learning differences, medical conditions and behavioral challenges.
- Ability to follow and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and staff.
- Basic knowledge of instructional strategies and classroom management.
