Job Description

The Shift Supervisor for Fremont Provisions will join a team of dreamers and doers committed to rural renewal through business and economic development. This skilled person will work with the owners, General Manager, FOH Manager and executive chef to execute operations and processes, lead teams when the General Manager and/or FOH Manager is not present, assist in overseeing inventory and ordering of food and supplies. They will assist in managing the Restaurant, Bar, Deli Counter, Catering, and Market.

Housed in a historic storefront built in 1903, Fremont Provisions is Cañon City’s premiere locally-sourced scratch kitchen eatery, known for the intentionally selected products and unique menu options. Successful candidates will have the following:

  • Prior management experience in the hospitality industry is a plus
  • Knowledge of computer programs and Point of Sale Systems (MS Word, Excel, ADP, Toast, or similar POS system)
  • Proficient in the following restaurant functions: food planning and preparation, purchasing, sanitation, security, company policies and procedures, personnel management, recordkeeping, and preparation of reports.
  • Budgeting skills required to control costs
  • Self-discipline, initiative, leadership ability and outgoing.
  • Pleasant, polite manner and a neat and clean appearance
  • Ability to motivate employees to work as a team to ensure that food and service meet appropriate standards.
  • Must be able to handle the pressures of simultaneously coordinating a wide range of activities and recommend appropriate solutions to restaurant problems.
  • Must possess good communication skills for dealing with diverse staff.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks such as food, beverage, and labor cost while maintaining required standards of operation in daily restaurant activities.
  • Ability to determine applicability of experience and qualifications of job applicants.
  • Knowledge of the food/restaurant industry and trends
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a fast paced environment
  • Knowledgeable about restaurant facilities and equipment care and management
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand on on your feet for at least 8 hours
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.

What you would be doing at Fremont Provisions:

  • Supervise employees during all shifts for FOH when FOH Manager and/or General Manager is not present. (Expect between 2-12 employees for any given shift.)
  • Ensure that each staff member receives proper training and evaluation
  • Set each shift up for success having proper understanding of the food and beverage menus, POS management and conduct a team line up prior to service
  • Ensure that each customer’s needs and expectations are being met.
  • Handle any customer appeasement situations and maintain customer appreciation and retention
  • Supervise side-work completion and any other on-going FOH tasks on a daily basis
  • Communicate with Back of House (BOH) staff consistently during each service period
  • Complete FOH inventory and order items needed on time to have them delivered before running out
  • Assist the team in any way you can: greeting and seating customers, running food, delivering drinks, cleaning, bar backing, taking to go orders etc.
  • We expect you to be able to lead others through role modeled behavior, mutual respect, and enthusiasm for the job.
  • Have the ability to develop and implement needed operational systems
  • Adhere to company standards and service levels to increase sales and minimize costs, including food, beverage, supply, utility and labor costs.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all financial (invoices, reporting) and personnel/payroll related administrative duties are completed accurately, on time and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Show up ready to work, clean, and well-groomed and wearing the appropriate attire
  • Focus on positive and friendly guest interactions Guests are to be recognized and thanked for their patronage as they leave
  • Be proficient in both food and beverage specials and be ready to train FOH staff
  • Be knowledgeable about Fremont Provisions. This includes aspects of our philosophy, product sourcing, hours of operation, and any food or drink specials.
  • Be aware of any special events or ticketed dinners and convey this information to guests in a polite and professional manner.
  • Maintain a clean work environment, free from any clutter or personal belongings, including cell phones.
  • Set clear expectations for cleanliness and other FOH job duties and demonstrate the ability to follow through
  • Set a positive example by always embody the Unbridled brand and culture, including: character, change, credibility, and community.

Weekly day range:

  • Every weekend
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekend availability

Education: High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience: hospitality or restaurant: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification: Driver's License (Preferred)
