Job Description

Service assistants help servers create a seamless experience for guests. This is a fun, active job working with people from around the world!

Summary

Moves customers’ orders from the kitchen window to customers efficiently. Serves guests quickly while offering superior customer service.

Essential Functions

  • Warmly greets and acknowledges guests upon arrival.
  • Serves customers’ orders from the kitchen window to the customer’s seat/table.
  • Answering any questions customers may have concerning menu items.
  • Polishes/roles silverware used for service.
  • Serves beverages to customers.
  • Cleans, stocks, and maintains the workstations throughout shift.
  • Follows all safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as directed by management.

Education/Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or actively pursuing an education

Knowledge

  • Understanding of federal, state, and local liquor laws

Skills/Aptitudes

  • Ability to read/speak/write the English language and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to take direction and work under moderate supervision.
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to work quickly, calmly, and effectively under pressure
  • Conflict Resolution, ability to deal with unpleasant or angry customers.
  • Working Conditions/Essential Job Functions
  • This position will spend 95% of the time standing/walking and 5% of the time sitting
  • Position requires ability to bend, twist, make repetitive motions, use hands to hold and carry items/trays, kneel, reach, push and pull.
  • This position requires the ability to work/move safely on a moving train.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Direct contact with guests, managers, and co-workers.
  • Occasional environmental exposures to cold, heat, snow, rain and water.

The Royal Gorge Route Railroad is America’s most spectacular scenic rail journey and Colorado’s most breathtaking rolling restaurant. This is a a spectacular train ride through the Colorado Rockies where we combine stunning scenery and exceptional service with delicious food, sourced locally and prepared fresh right on board the train for breakfast, lunch, afternoon and dinner. The Royal Gorge Route Railroad offers daily departures at 9:15 am, 12:30 pm, and 3:30 pm, with 6:30 pm departures on weekends. Special events occur throughout the year, including Santa Express Train, Oktoberfest, Mother’s Day Brunch and more. The gift shop is open every day, with extended hours during the holiday season.

The Royal Gorge Route has been instrumental in preserving this breathtaking canyon and ensuring a vital part of Colorado history will be passed along to the next generation. In 1905, President Teddy Roosevelt described our railroad as “The trip that bankrupts the English language!” This is a major destination attraction that we are preserving, much like America’s National Parks.
