Position Summary:
The Senior Software Engineer I designs, develops, tests, deploys, maintains, and improves software for end users, with a strong focus on technical leadership. They deliver individual projects based upon deadlines and required deliverables. The Senior Engineer builds complex features independently and collaborates with other teams to conduct design and code reviews. They develop and/or provide technical leadership in the development of software applications involving the application of new technologies with significant technical risk. The Senior Engineer prepares detailed plans, which may span over a year for complex projects. They determine test philosophy, goals, and objectives, and participate in the formation of project goals, scope, and schedule. The Senior Software Engineer I makes a high impact on the success of their team. The Senior Software Engineer I works through complex problems and tradeoffs with only minor assistance. The Senior Software Engineer I mentors other engineers throughout the organization.
Essential Responsibilities and Percentage of Time Spent (includes, but is not limited to):
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software (65%)
- Participate in team meetings including grooming sessions, project planning, and other aspects of the agile development lifecycle (20%)
- Help level up the team through mentorship and design techniques (10%)
- Participate in on-call rotations (5%)
Ideal Skills, Experience, and Competencies:
- At least five (5) to eight (8) years of relevant software development experience
- Ability to show advanced proficiency of a relevant programming language (Java, JavaScript, Kotlin, Go, and/or Python)
- Effective technical leadership abilities
- Advanced experience with one or more of the following languages: Java, JavaScript, Kotlin, Go and/or Python.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with innovative application design and implementation
- Effective problem solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Ability to step up to address difficult issues, saying what needs to be said
- Ability to develop people to meet both their career goals and the organization’s goals
- Ability to operate effectively, even when things are not certain, or the way forward is not clear
- Ability to make sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems
- Ability to actively seek new ways to grow and be challenged using both formal and informal development challenges
Required Education Certifications:
A./B.S. in related field or equivalent work experience
Work Environment: Professional office environment. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, printers, and filing cabinets. Remote and/or hybrid work at Pax8 requires all employees to have adequate secure and private internet service. Physical Demands: Sedentary role; primarily involves sitting/standing
Travel Requirements: Infrequent travel is expected of this position
Compensation:
- Qualified candidates can expect a salary beginning at $135,000 or more depending on experience
