Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechatronics Engineer to join our agile and dynamic team in Penrose, CO, where you will play a crucial role in making products that help save lives, defend freedom, preserve history, and keep the United States and its allies on the technological leading edge. in advancing our manufacturing operations and contributing to our mission of finding solutions that matter for our nation. Essential Functions
  • Design, develop, and implement mechatronics systems, integrating mechanical, electrical, and software components.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and define system requirements and specifications.
  • Create detailed engineering documentation, including schematics, diagrams, and technical reports.
  • Conduct simulations and analyses to optimize system performance.
  • Test and validate prototypes, identifying and resolving any technical issues. 
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for existing systems.
  • Oversee the manufacturing process of mechatronics systems, ensuring quality and compliance with industry standards.
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in mechatronics and related technologies.
  • Support the completion of projects safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. 
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant safety and regulatory standards.
Competencies, Experience, and Education 

Required 
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience.
  • Proven experience in designing, developing, and manufacturing mechatronics systems. 
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and software integration.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and simulation tools. 
  • BS or MS in chemical, mechanical, electrical, or other relevant engineering field. 
  • Hands on skills such as machining, prototype fabrication, carpentry, pipe fitting, electronics, etc. 
  • Conceptual skills such as mechanical design, CAD, and facility design. 
  • Experience with microcontrollers, sensors, actuators, and embedded systems. 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.  
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.  
  • Strong time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.  
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain State and Federal explosives licenses including: 
  • Be 21 years of age or older. 
  • Pass pre-employment drug test. 
  • Pass State and Federal background checks. 
Desired 
  • Experience with PLC programming and industrial automation
  • Knowledge of AI and machine learning applications in mechatronics
  • Familiarity with robotics and control systems. 
  • Certification in relevant areas (e.g., PMP, Six Sigma)
Work Environment 
The work will be primarily in office and manufacturing environments. 

Physical Demands 
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds. 
  • Comfortable sitting, standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. 
  • Exposure to industrial machines, heat, cold, and explosives. 
  • Frequent movement through a manufacturing environment. 
  • Use of personal protective equipment appropriate to the work location. 
Travel 
5-10%

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work 
This is a full-time position. Typical workdays are on a 5-day week. Employees are expected to work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status. Occasional overtime may be required during busy periods.
