Job Description:
The Senior Center Assistant works closely with the Aging Well Coordinator to support day to day operations at the Senior center. This position supports actions associated with long term planning and goals at the Senior Center. The Senior Center is a sub-department of the Lake County Public Health Agency as a part of the Lake County Government.

General Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions
Essential and other important responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
- Greet seniors in-person and by phone. Answer questions and provide information and referrals.
- Drive county vehicles and senior vans to take seniors to lunch, medical appointments, shopping, and excursions.
- Assist with helping seniors get in and out of vehicles.
- Maintain paperwork and cleanliness with vehicles.
- Assist the Aging Well Coordinator with the paperwork and distribution of monthly food boxes.
- Assist with the paperwork and distribution of the Durable Medical Equipment loan program.
- Assist with Snow Removal Program development and implementation.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings.
- Create and distribute monthly newsletters and mailings.
- Keep social media accounts current and relevant.
- Update Lake County Senior Center website page on regular basis.
- Assist with planning and acquiring new activities and excursions for seniors.
- Supervise private events during non-business hours at the Senior Center.
- Support UAACOG programming through the Senior Center.
- Willingness to provide assistance in the Senior Center kitchen operations when necessary.
- Maintain a current working knowledge and awareness of Policies & Procedures
- Always represent the Lake County Government and the Senior Center in a professional manner.
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness in the Senior Center.
- Other duties as assigned by the Aging Well Coordinator.

Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age with a minimum of a high school or equivalent education.
- Ability to pass a Colorado Bureau of Investigation Background Check.
- Ability to function in a fast-paced environment, under short time constraints and with established deadlines.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, occasional weekend hours included.
- Have a clean driving record.
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- A willingness to assist the senior community of Lake County.
- Willingness to learn, excellent communication skills, and a positive attitude.
- Proficiency in English and Spanish preferred.
Physical Activity & Work Environment
- Ability to perform various activities such as constant standing, walking, frequent bending, reaching, and kneeling.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull 30-50 pounds.
- Ability to drive a county vehicle.
Most of the position’s duties are performed in a protected, indoor environment. The incumbent may be exposed to some noise (electrical, mechanical, or human) on an occasional basis, and other related hazards associated with an office environment. The incumbent may be exposed to seasonal conditions including wet and/or humid and extreme temperature changes on an occasional basis. The incumbent may be required to work occasional evenings and weekends as appropriate.

Notice of Emergency/Disaster Responsibilities
All Lake County Employees may be required to work as a Disaster Service Worker when a local declaration of emergency or disaster is declared by the Board of County Commissioners. To be prepared for this role, all employees and emergency service function (ESF) leads will attend emergency management trainings and exercises as requested by the Director of Emergency Management. With advanced notification from OEM, employees will make reasonable efforts to attend training events in coordination with other employees and supervisors.
