The Jr/Sr high school is located on Highway 50 in Fremont County, a short distance from the communities of Canon City, Colorado Springs, and Pueblo. The school enrollment is projected at 560 students grades 7 through 12. Fremont Re-2 school district values low class size and strong career and technical education programming.

Purpose of the Position

Under the Principal of Florence Jr/Sr High School, the Assistant Principal is a dynamic leader who curates a positive school climate and leads the school towards the accomplishments of the mission and vision. The Assistant Principal will work with the Administrative team to guide the implementation of instructional and behavioral efforts, track data towards the UIP goals and implementation benchmarks, and lead MTSS and the Safety Team in the school. The Assistant Principal will work with the instructional team to guide PLC's and departments teams in effective curriculum implementation, supervise, support and evaluate staff. At all times the Assistant Principal represents the school in the community and must maintain the highest levels of integrity, openness and compassion.

The Assistant Principal leader we are seeking will:

  • Demonstrate successful experience with the systemic turnaround and improvement competencies
  • Demonstrate successful experience with district safety procedures
  • Demonstrating successful experience with a Standards Based Instruction System (SBIS)
  • Demonstrating understanding and knowledge of the requirements under the CDE and key legislation within CO, such as SB163, SB191, SB212 and Special Education Laws
  • Demonstrating an understanding of technology integration and Design Thinking to drive an increase in student achievement
  • Demonstrating successful experience building strong school culture
  • Demonstrating successful experience establishing school process and protocols to include MTSS
  • Demonstrating strong communication skills
  • Demonstrating a commitment to the BOE expectations and District Strategic Plan

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Others duties may be assigned)

  • Responsible for providing assistance to the Principal in the Administration of the total school program.
  • May serve as administrative head of the school in the absence of the principal Supports administers a program of student discipline
  • Assists with staff evaluation Serve as lead for MTSS committee.
  • Schedule regular MTSS meetings and contribute to writing MTSS plans.
  • Oversee the Safety Committee for the building to ensure the school follows the district safety procedures.
  • Responsible for attendance and truancy efforts
  • Manages building staff and students; develops and manages daily organizational processes and protocols.
  • Assists with coordinating the development of the master teaching schedule
  • Provides general supervision to students.
  • Supervises extracurricular activities as needed with the AD/AP and Principal
  • Fosters good school-parent relations by maintaining communications
  • Coordinate required parent sportsmanship meeting with individual team meetings
  • Conduct weekly academic eligibility checks

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises employees in the High School when the Principal is absent from the building.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problem.
  • Supervising staff as assigned by the Principal.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possess a Colorado Initial of Professional Principal License (or be eligible for the same, to include state-approved Teacher Evaluation Training)
  • Experience as an assistant principal preferred
  • Successful teaching experience at the Secondary level
  • Strong understanding of current teaching strategies and instructional techniques related to formative and summative assessment and evaluation.
  • Knowledge and experience in working with Colorado content standards and assessments
  • Ability to communicate, organize, and promote an effective building level discipline and attendance program.
  • Successful background in student management
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must be effective in working with community members
  • Strong personal skills, staff supervision and evaluation
  • Maintain positive working relationship with students, staff, administrators, and parents
  • Successful completion of all mandated criminal background screenings and fingerprinting required

JOB DETAILS:

181-day contract Four (4) day school week

SALARY & BENEFITS:

  • Salary according to the District Instructional Administrator Salary Schedule
  • District will accept up to fifteen (15) years of experience at administrative level.
  • District contribution toward benefit package valued at $4,944 annually to include Health, Dental, Vision and Life Insurance
  • Leave days according to District Policy
  • CASE Membership Dues paid by the District Fremont RE-2 School
