Wage: $15.23-$16.54/hr.

Location: Canon City, CO.

Job Description

The Royal Gorge Bridge Park is seeking a mountain climbing or adventure guide with knowledge or experience with via ferratas for the Royal Gorge Via Ferrata. The park is open year round and staff is needed for all seasons. This is a physical position which requires an individual who is comfortable moving around at heights along cliff faces, moderately heavy lifting, climbing ladders and stairs, reaching, pulling and stretching and an ability to navigate all of the Royal Gorge Via Ferrata. Will also be expected to learn all ride operation including the ZipRider zipline, Skycoaster, Gondolas, and Carousel.

Essential functions and responsibilities: (This list is not all inclusive.)

  • Able to perform all via ferrata or mountaineering guide duties involved in climbing,
  • Able to learn and demonstrate rope handling skills
  • Rope anchoring and haul systems,
  • Ability to identify dangerous situations associated with mountaineering,
  • Good communication and customer service skills,
  • Follow all safety procedures,
  • Physical ability to climb daily, and lift 50 + lbs.,
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people, instruct groups, enforce procedures,
  • Experience with leading children/adults and a passion for working with kids (age 10 +),
  • Will be expected to train and perform as ride operator on all attractions at the park.
  • Able to work weekends.
  • Need to pass drug and background screen.
