GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position requires developing and implementing daily lesson plans based on Colorado state standards. The teacher will observe and evaluate students’ performance, behavior, and social development. The teacher will also instruct students individually and in groups, adapting teaching methods to meet students' varying needs. The position requires planning and conducting activities for a balanced instruction program for students with diverse backgrounds and abilities. In addition, the teacher may have opportunities to participate in or lead field trips with students and other members of the community. This position requires a high degree of collaborative communication and leadership. It also requires substantial organizational and time management skills. A high level of autonomy is expected with equal amounts of self-management. Salary is based on a 156-day work calendar, scheduled with a supervisor.

 Be licensed by the State of Colorado as a Teacher.

 Be able to develop and implement daily lesson plans

 Be able to implement individual student remediation plans

 Assist counselor and SSPs in determining student MTSS needs

 Document Interventions for MTSS

 Ability to work with student’s academic and social/emotional needs

 Be able to work successfully with a team

 Work effectively and create a positive rapport with students, staff, administration, parents and community members

Horizons is a non-traditional model that incurs duties and responsibilities that may differ from traditional campuses and include:

 School of Innovation Designation: comfortable with keeping active in education reform and implementation of emerging best practices

 Comfortable and flexible co-teaching with other staff members in a variety of situations and subjects

 Facilitation of interdisciplinary classes that include multiple grade levels and abilities

 Flexible and extended hours: After School and overnight for events and field trips

 Flexibility for schedule change (classes, planned activities, coverage and supervision)

 Teaching and planning for a variety of content areas and courses

 Participation and rotation of leadership for advisory, positive discipline and other SEL and culture building initiatives

 Planning and leading extended learning activities

 Duties may include tasks normally assigned to: secretary, para-professional, custodian, counselor and other support staff

 PLC and Planning time are combined into a minimum of 4 hours per week

 Substitute teaching in case of emergency

 Shared responsibility for classroom and building custodial and maintenance needs as they arise

 Attend trainings and drive bus

 Attend Personal and Staff Professional Development to maintain programming excellence may include book studies and retreats

 Staff meetings during student lunch hour

Preferred experience/knowledge/ability:

 Experience with online learning platforms including, Google Classroom, Zoom, Odyssey Ware.

 Preference will be given to candidates with multiple endorsements.

 English endorsement preferred

 Prefer experience with alternative education
