Qualifications Required Education: Master’s degree with School Psychology Certificate or Specialist of Education in School Psychology degree.

General Description of the Role:

This is a grant funded position designed to address the mental health needs of students and work collaboratively with staff and families. The School Health Professional Grant SHPG School Psychologist reports directly to the building principal and superintendent. The SHPG School Psychologist will help lead teams and teachers who oversee emotionally disabled students, including all evaluations, behavior plans, and direct services. An ability to de-escalate student behavior is essential. The school SHPG School Psychologist attends IEP meetings as requested by case managers and provides cogent reports for staff within a timely manner. The SHPG School Psychologist also works directly with building counselors to support both MTSS and RTI program, including necessary observations, assessments, and reports. The SHPG School Psychologist will provide necessary training to all staff as needed. The SHPG School Psychologist also collaborates with administrators and counselors to conduct threat assessments and is available to consult with parents as needed. This position requires a high degree of collaborative communication and leadership. It also requires substantial organizational and time management skills. Written reports require a skill set that allows for efficiency and accessibility. A high level of autonomy is expected with equal amounts of self-management.

Major Areas of Responsibility and Duties Specific to this Job:

● Provide direct mental health counseling services to targeted individual students and student groups

● Serve as a resource for general and special education staff to promote and implement academic and behavioral supports

● Assist IEP teams with the development and implementation of IEPs

● Document services provided and monitor student progress

● Write behavior plans in conjunction with other pertinent team members (e.g., education staff and parents) and assist with behavior interventions when deemed appropriate

● Lead the Functional Behavior Assessment process in assigned buildings

● Lead the threat assessment process in assigned buildings

● Provide MTSS and RTI leadership and support in assigned buildings; participate in school district MTSS and RTI teams and assist with the facilitation and documentation of research-based methods for academic and behavioral supports

● Share pertinent evaluation/observation information with parents, students, and agencies as appropriate

● Administer, score, and interpret necessary assessments (broad and focused) to assist in determining disabling conditions, and/or tiered programming for students according to State and Federal Regulations and according to Mountain BOCES policies and procedures

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
