HRRMC's Surgery Department is seeking a full time OR RN. This position is schedule to work 32 hours/ week and may include weekends. We are looking for a team member who is dedicated to exceptional patient care and a strong team player. Previous OR experience is required. SUMMARY
A Registered Nurse (RN) for the Operating Room is able to independently assess and evaluate the health status of all presenting patients utilizing objective and subjective data and identifying health care problems The RN must maintain safe and effective care throughout the episode of care through the institution of standard procedures that stabilize each patient's condition or through the prevention of serious complications in surgical situations. The perioperative RN helps to plan, implement and evaluate treatment of surgical patients, interacting closely with patients, family members and other healthcare professionals. The RN acts as a patient advocate. The scope of OR RN practice involves performing invasive procedures in both the scrub and circulation RN roles. Is proficient with the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during a variety of surgeries to include but not limited to general, orthopedics, ophthalmic, ear/nose/throat, gynecological, and procedural. As circulator, the RN manages the overall nursing care in the operating room and ensures a safe and comfortable environment.

Since six of every seven acres is designated public lands, the Valley is the perfect location for hiking, biking, horseback riding, trail running, rock climbing, boating, fishing and hunting. In the winter there are designated snowmobile routes and backcountry skiing. Monarch Ski Snowboard Area is just 18 miles west of Salida. The Arkansas River is known for its world-class trout fishery, kayaking, and whitewater rafting. Salary Range for this position is based on years of experiences.
An 8% pay differential will be granted.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES PER AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY
1. Serves as a Circulator and/or Scrub nurse for surgical and procedural cases. Performs scrub functions, including the preparation, selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during the surgical procedure and performs surgical counts with the circulating nurse. Performs circulating functions before surgery, including preparing the operating environment, orient and assessing the patient, reviewing the patient medical record, consent, surgeon's notes to ensure all pre-requisites and preferences are met.
2. Provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process through all phases of surgical procedures.
3. Collaborates with all members of the surgical team for the benefit of the patient.
4. Performs Universal Protocol: Timeout, verify patient full name, date of birth, surgical procedure, correct site and ensures site is marked with surgeon’ signature.
5. Performs circulating functions during surgery including monitoring and communicating patient’s condition, documenting interventions and activities, monitoring the sterile field and controlling traffic into and out of the operating room.
6. Participates in room turnovers between cases with EVS staff.
7. Demonstrates clinical competence in surgical skills and a superior sterile conscience. Rotates to all areas in surgical services as census changes and to accommodate patient needs.
8. Serves as the second Registered Nurse during the recovery phase post-operatively during call back
9. Assists with cleaning and sterilization of instruments for after hour cases.
10. Promote the efficient use of hospital resources and ensures proper supplies and equipment is accessible at all times.
11. Accurately documents all patient care in the medical records. Accurately documents appropriate patient charges, corrects any discrepancies.
Requirements
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of an Associate’s Degree (ADN) from an accredited nursing program.
- Minimum of one year in area of specialty or acute care preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Must maintain current, active license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Colorado.
- Must maintain current CPR certification.
- Must maintain current ACLS certification.
- Must maintain current PALS or PEARS.

This position includes rotating call schedule and will include on call pay differential.
