Full time management position. Must be an RN.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES:

  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate and direct restorative therapy services, including the Level II and Level III functional maintenance programs, for facility residents.
  • Coordinate restorative therapy services with therapy service provider to provide transitional services to facility residents.
  • Ensure that Level III functional maintenance program is followed in order to provide quality resident care.
  • Evaluate and monitor the utilization of appropriate adaptive equipment in the dining room.
  • Monitor for changes in diet and/or fluid restrictions as they may relate to restorative dining processes.
  • Manage the identification system for lifting residents and for the dining room i.e., apple/orange signs, etc.
  • Maintain the schedule of the restorative nursing department to ensure resident needs are met.
  • Monitor and evaluate restorative employees’ performance to meet nursing care standards and ensure that functional maintenance programs are followed.
  • Train restorative nursing staff in procedures, responsibilities and equipment use in order to provide the best care possible to the residents.
  • Keep the director of nursing informed concerning procedures and restorative nursing care in the facility.
  • Contribute to the development of the philosophy, objectives, policies, procedures and job descriptions for the restorative nursing service department.
  • Serve on committees and attend meetings as delegated by the DON i.e., Safety Committee with Safety Tours as assigned, Diamond Team, PDPM, Resident Care Planning, Restorative meeting, Rehab meeting, Fall Committee, Pain Management Committee, Stand Up meeting, Nurses’ meeting, QAPI meeting, and any other mandatory meetings.
  • Assess, initiate, and monitor behavioral interventions and/or a toileting plan for those residents with urinary and/or bowel incontinence.
  • Ensure nursing compliance with implementation of toileting plans.
  • Monitor and investigate resident falls, and evaluate for trends.
  • Create data reports and distribute to appropriate committees.
  • Direct the care plan conference, ensuring ongoing reduction of physical restraints by appropriate communication and documentation of staff and physicians.
  • Monitor the ongoing efficacy of safety devices for residents.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation and informed consents are obtained as appropriate.
  • Implement and monitor the use of safety devices i.e., bed bars, alarms, merri walkers, etc..
  • Coordinates with therapy services and nursing to ensure that proper lifting programs are in place for residents.
  • Ensures that proper lifting signage is placed above residents’ beds.
  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining Pain management program, monthly pain committee and quarterly pain audits.
  • Must notify MD when current pain management program is ineffective and/or no longer necessary.
  • Collaborate with the Human Resource Director to coordinate training programs for restorative nursing and accident prevention.
  • Maintains complete and accurate records of restorative therapy services, pain management program, and accident prevention.
  • Participate in the RAI (Resident Assessment Instrument) process as a representative of Restorative Therapy and resident safety.
  • Utilize the QAPI process/forms and data obtained from the Quality Indicators, etc., to identify, audit and implement systems to continually improve quality of life and care for the residents.
  • Implement recommendations from the QAPI Committee as they relate to the Restorative Nurse position.
  • Alternate on call duties with the DON and other designated staff.
  • Actively participates in assigned neighborhood meetings and activities.
  • Assume all the duties of a Registered Nurse, and work the floor as a med nurse or charge nurse as needed.
  • Models and promotes person centered care, and actively participates in neighborhood meetings and activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
