Salary:
1-Year Colorado Substitute Authorization License
Full-Day $135.00/day
A one-year substitute authorization requires you to hold a high school diploma or its equivalent and have a fingerprint-based history on file with CDE.
3-Year Colorado Substitute Authorization
Full-Day, $155.00/day
A 3-year substitute authorization requires you to hold an earned bachelor's or higher degree from an accepted, regionally accredited college or university and have a fingerprint-based history on file with CDE.
5-Year Colorado Substitute Authorization Licence or Colorado Teaching License
- Full-Day, $162.00/day
A 5-year substitute authorization requires you to hold a current or expired Colorado teacher license/certificate or a current out-of-state teacher license/certificate and have a current fingerprint-based background check on file with CDE.
Benefits Include: Health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, PERA retirement. Accrued Sick Leave. May be eligible for a $200 stipend through the Colorado Department of Education, if it’s your first time subbing.
Purpose of the Job: Serve as a guest teacher and support staff for Canon City Schools assigned to one building. Having a substitute who can support for days of absence when a substitute is not found and also someone who is familiar with the students, staff, and the school’s culture is critical. Only on an emergency basis would this position be asked to sub in a building they were not originally assigned to. This position is meant to be rotated to provide opportunities for staff who are interested in working as a teacher or currently attending school for teaching.
Minimum Requirements:
Education: Associate’s degree or higher required, Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred.
Certification: Must have Sub Authorization License or Teaching License from Colorado Department of Education
Experience: 2 years of school experience preferred
Licenses/Certificates: Must have Valid Colorado’s Drivers License
Other Criteria: Preference will be given to applicants who are working towards their education degree or have a desire to become an educator.
Must be willing to be trained in the health tech training (first aid, CPR, etc.)
- Criminal background check required for hire
- Ability to work cooperatively in a school atmosphere with staff members, students, and the public.
- Ability to effectively read, write, speak, and listen to comply with directions and instructions to complete tasks and establish priorities.
- Integrity, trust and work ethic to be able to work with little supervision.
- Competent understanding of technology to perform the job
- A positive individual with a neat, clean appearance; a pleasant, courteous demeanor
- Must pass pre-employment physical
- Ability to perform light lifting and moving of product (up to 50lbs)
- Ability to be flexible throughout the workday
- Ability to drive if needed at another school during urgently needed support
- Implements appropriate physical and technical safeguards to protect district data's confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
- Maintains good security practices with passwords and accounts to the various district systems and applications.
- Reports actual or suspected breaches in the confidentiality, integrity, or availability of district data to appropriate district personnel.
- Follows all board policies for acceptable use of district technology.

- May be required to work in other buildings if an emergency arises with another school
