Salary: The pay for this position is determined by the Instructional Support Salary Schedule, based on education and experience. Starting salary range is $29,591-$34,000

Purpose of the Job:
To complete student teaching requirements while actively supporting classroom instruction under the guidance of a certified lead teacher. The Residency Teacher role is a year-long, paid clinical placement for individuals enrolled in a CDE-approved educator preparation program who hold a valid Colorado Substitute Authorization. This position provides a unique opportunity to grow as an educator within a supportive, real-world teaching environment. Residency Teachers are considered key contributors to the learning team and are expected to demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and a commitment to student success.
Minimum Requirements:
Education: Enrolled in the final year of a Colorado Department of Education–approved educator preparation program. Completion of prerequisite coursework required for student teaching placement.
Required Praxis Exams completed for licensure preferred.
Experience: Previous classroom experience (volunteer, aide, or paraprofessional) preferred but not required.
Licenses/Certificates: Valid Colorado Substitute Authorization (required)

- Ability to effectively read, write, speak, and listen to comply with directions and instructions to complete tasks and establish priorities.

- Competent understanding of technology to perform the job.
- Must pass pre-employment physical.
- Ability to perform light lifting and moving of product (up to 50lbs).
- Implements appropriate physical and technical safeguards to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of district data.
- Maintain good security practices with passwords and accounts for the various district systems and applications.
- Reports actual or suspected breaches in the confidentiality, integrity, or availability of district data to appropriate district personnel.
- Follows all board policies for acceptable use of district technology.
- Model the District's Mission and Belief Statements.
- Other duties as assigned.

Residency Teachers work under the direct supervision of a licensed educator and participate in:
- Co-planning and co-teaching lessons that align with state standards.
- Reflecting on practice with a lead teacher and university supervisor.
- Supporting a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment.
- Contributing to instructional planning, assessment, and student engagement strategies.
- Participating in parent conferences, staff meetings, and professional learning sessions.
- Completing required program assessments and documentation.
- Observing and learning district practices around communication, collaboration, and professionalism.
- Attend trainings and meetings as required.
- Participate in reflection with lead teacher and follow current college requirements
Skills, Knowledge, Equipment & Other:
Computer hardware and software, technology related to the assignment; typical office machines such as copiers, faxes, and phones; typical classroom equipment, including technology tools such as digital projectors, calculators, interactive displays, etc.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, talk, or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, feel, or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds from floor to waist, waist to overhead, waist to floor, and overhead to floor. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to work in a school setting. Travel from site to site may occasionally be exposed to wet and/or humid outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment ranges from generally quiet to increased when working events or with equipment occasionally. Classroom and 1:1 settings and possible outside supervisory duties in inclement weather. Must be able to work in person.
Mental Functions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to analyze and compute. Frequently required to compare, communicate, coordinate, instruct, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, and compile. Occasionally required to copy, synthesize, and negotiate.
