Job Description:

HRRMC's Custer County Health Center in Westcliffe, CO; has a part time (24 hours/ week ) as a Registration Specialist working at our Custer County Clinic. The ideal candidate will have previous customer service experience in a healthcare setting, and will have great attention to detail. This position will be eligible for medical, dental and vision insurance, employee retirement plans, employee assistance program and paid time off.

Performs timely, detailed, accurate patient registration for all hospital services to assure an exceptional patient experience, smooth workflow and staff/provider productivity. Maintains the integrity of the demographic information of the patient, insured, guarantor and insurance company. The needs of the patient must be met within the interpretive guidelines of EMTALA section 1867 of Social Security Act for emergency patients, and according to all third party payer certification, regulatory requirements and restrictions for non-emergent or pre-scheduled patients. In addition to face to face and telephone registrations, the registration staff is responsible for answering incoming calls, handling incoming and outgoing mail, and updating patient portal issues as reported by patient calls.

This postion is located in Westcliffe, CO at our Custer County Healthcare Center.

All offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of a negative drug screen test*, criminal background check, reference checks, infection prevention procedures, TB test, Flu Shot, immunization records, physical and acknowledgement of policies

ESSENTIAL DUTIES PER AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY

1. Greets patients, visitors, physicians and employees in a cordial and professional manner, being as helpful as possible.

2. Answers telephone promptly, transfers calls to the correct extension and takes messages when necessary. Practices telephone courtesy at all times, being as helpful as possible to the caller.

3. Directs patients to ancillary department(s) to receive ordered services.

4. Is proficient in CPSI registration maintaining a 95% minimum accuracy level that is tracked and reviewed weekly.

5. Capable of reading physician orders, verifies the order and treating physician with the patient, and ensure accuracy is captured within the CPSI application.

6. Collects, scans, and verifies insurance information and eligibility. Determines benefits and provides information to counseling team so that discussion can occur with patient regarding estimated out of pocket expense.

7. Obtains appropriate consents signed by patient and/or appropriate individual for all services being rendered.

Requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE A minimum of three years related business and/or customer service experience, preferably in a hospital, medical or physician office.
