We are a 100-room hotel, built in the 1970s, near Garfield, Colorado. We are located just outside of the city of Salida on Monarch Mountain within the San Isabel National Forest. We are 5 miles from both a ski resort and the Continental Divide, bringing skiers, hikers, and family vacationers throughout the year. We offer free on-site living quarters for full-time employees; housing details listed below under COMPENSATION.

We are looking for Porter to join our housekeeping team. The position is specifically for second shift. Our second shift porters provide cleanliness throughout the building with a focus on laundry duties and assisting the front desk with guest services and light maintenance duties. To be successful in the role, you should be highly organized and time efficient and see a task through until completion.

COMPENSATION

Something unique about our housekeeping team… we understand it is common in the hospitality industry for housekeeping members to often have inconsistent shifts and therefore inconsistent income. At Monarch Mountain Lodge, we offer housekeeping team an 8-hour shift every week. We do not give you a couple of areas to clean and then send you home. Your work-week will remain a consistent 40-hour work week.

  • Our on-site living quarters are private (you do not share or “bunk” with other employees, your bathroom is also private). The room is furnished with a coffee maker, mini fridge, microwave, and TV. Full-time employees receive free electricity, gas, water, trash pick-up, and cable and the connectivity to WIFI is fee as well. Any children under the age of 16 will need constant supervision and may not be left unattended in the hotel or a hotel room at any time. Any adult sharing your housing unit and not employed by the hotel will be required to pay monthly rent of $500 per month.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven Experience in Plumbing –1 year -* (preferred)*
  • Proven Experience in Laundry, Janitorial, Custodial or Porter – 1- year (preferred)
  • Valid Driver's License - (required)
  • Reliable Vehicle – (required) all staff must have a reliable vehicle with liability insurance. We are a remote hotel minutes from the city; there is no public transportation.
  • Background Check – (required) due to on-site living, a background check will be performed early in the FIRST PHASE of the interview process. The background check is not a job offer; it is required for the housing application purpose only.
  • Employment Verification – (required) must submit previous employer's contact information for employment verification.

Physical Requirements - The following physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job.

Ability to lift, bend, stoop walk, push or pull items weighing up to 60 pounds, ability to stand, walk and/or sit and continuously perform essential job functions for an 8- to 10-hour shift.

HOURS

The second shift begins promptly at 3p and ends at 11p. This position works a steady 8 hours per day, 5 days per week (a 40-hour work week). This position works weekends and holidays and is On-call for events and special needs.

NOTE: There are 4 times per year in which the entire staff works a 48-hour work week (usually centered around holidays).

RESPONSIBILITIES – This position has varied tasks, duties, and responsibilities. This job description does not attempt to list all duties that may be performed in this position.

  • Arrive at your work area on time.
  • Follow assigned work schedule.
  • Perform a variety of light maintenance tasks, not limited to fixing minor leaks and clogs of sinks, tubs and toilets, the tv cable boxes, attaching TV HDMI cables, changing light bulbs, and more.
  • Meet daily production standards for processing laundry—a specific quantity of laundry must be completed every shift.
  • Meet daily production quotas and standards.
  • Perform a variety of daily laundry and cleaning tasks including but not limited to sorting, treating stains, weighing laundry, washing, drying, folding, cleaning mattresses, shower curtains, washing, drying, and stocking dishes, repairing curtains and linens, stripping beds, taking out trash.
  • Strip linens and towels from guest rooms.
  • Must continue to learn stain removal and cost- and time efficient procedures.
  • Perform a variety of janitorial tasks throughout the common areas of the hotel both inside and outside. Including but not limited to tennis courts, hot tubs, dog walking areas, shuttle bus, shoveling walkways, entryway, basketball courts, windows, washing dishes, employee lounge, bathroom, removal of trash throughout facility, etc.
  • Respond to guests and front desk requests for guests’ needs such as towels and linens, appliance delivery, dressing sofa beds, unclogging sinks and toilets.
  • Receive housekeeping carts and vacuums.
  • Organize vacuum storage.
  • Perform cleaning and maintenance of vacuums.
  • Keep laundry equipment and laundry areas clean.
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures, including but not limited to safety and security standards.
  • All other cleaning and maintenance tasks as assigned by the manager, including tasks in other departments.
