Job Description
This position provides paralegal and administrative assistance to the County Attorneys. Position is responsible for composing various legal documents such as orders, briefs and other legal documents, drafts appeals, as well as non-standard typing assignments including correspondence, memos and technical documents, establishes methods and procedures for compiling information. Coordinates activities for the County Attorneys. Completes extensive legal and policy research. Proof reads documents for inaccuracies, completes E-filing and paper filing of documents and prepares exhibits and other documents for court. Prepares correspondence and documents including confidential correspondence, memorandums, letters, reports, charts, legal documents and general correspondence. Reviews final copy of materials for form, completeness and accuracy. Makes copies of printed materials, collates materials and forwards to all necessary individuals. Monitors legal case files to ensure timely action. Maintains files, manuals and sources of information to ensure accuracy and accessibility. Files and coordinates incoming and outgoing correspondence ensuring easy accessibility. Contacts and coordinates witnesses and others to gather information on pending legal claims and cases. Completes legal research as requested according to identified resources and established procedures. Investigates and gathers facts of a case as needed. Prepares exhibits, takes notes and reviews transcripts prior to and during hearings. Files exhibits, briefs, appeals and other legal documents with the court or opposing counsel.
Qualifications:
Associate’s Degree in legal or paralegal studies; certificate in paralegal studies; six (6) months to two (2) years of applicable experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Requirements:
- Valid and current Colorado Driver’s License.
- May be required to take a written examination in computer software programs.
