Climax Molybdenum is the world’s leading producer of molybdenum and has a long, successful history of doing business safely, efficiently and responsibly. We have operated in Colorado for more than 100 years, with mining and milling operations near Leadville, Kremmling and Empire. Our Climax Mine is located between Frisco and Leadville – the seat of Lake County and the highest incorporated city in the United States. 

 

Employees who are required to work on-site are eligible for a $1,450 monthly housing allowance, provided they meet program guidelines.

Description

Highly skilled technician who delivers field-based operational/mechanical training and mentoring to a culturally diverse range of learners with varied levels of experience/competency in on-job environments. Collaborates with both internal and external stakeholders to the supported departments on learner progress, identifies challenges, roadblocks, and/or impediments to development opportunities (e.g., internal, external, and/or systemic). Highly skilled operator/mechanic possessing an ability to identify, assess, and elaborate on employee performance, which can impact successful mentoring and or safe production.

  • Train crew members in varied areas within the scope of incumbent’s Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs), individually or in a team, on department-specific jobs and skills. 
  • Support department development/operational initiatives through direct interaction with mentees, department leadership, and technical training. Act as liaison between various groups (e.g., training, department, and employee) to facilitate understanding and response to shortcomings and opportunities.
  • Assesses task/skill competency of individual crew members
  • Assists department supervision/training institute in identifying technical competencies and developing & maintaining department SOPs and other training materials.
  • Integral in updating training-related documentation for department workforce
  • Perform other duties as requested that correlate with the primary objective of developing and mentoring others in an operating area.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Seven (7) years of industrial work experience (e.g., construction, material handling, conveying, fixed or mobile equipment maintenance, mobile equipment operation, underground mining).

OR

  • Bachelor’s degree and (3) years of industrial work experience (e.g., construction, material handling, conveying, fixed or mobile equipment maintenance, mobile equipment operation, underground mining).
  • Direct experience in processes, equipment, and maintenance akin to operating areas where mentoring activity will occur (e.g., mine operations, fixed plant operations, fixed plant maintenance, mobile equipment operations, mobile equipment maintenance).
  • Ability to communicate effectively across multiple platforms (in-person, paper, digital)
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • At least 10 years directly related work experience
  • Recognized as highly skilled in all KSAs identified by the department Line-of-Progression.

 

Criteria/Conditions:

  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves, and any other protective equipment as required.

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $29.00 - $40.50/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. What We Require   

  • Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam.  
  • Candidates must pass all required training and/or testing.  
  • Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, which may include shift work (other than day shift) at a 24/7, 365-day operation.
