Location: Canon City, CO.

Job Description

Assists citizens with building permit applications and fees. Performs administrative, secretarial, clerical, bookkeeping and public contact duties associated with the Building Department. Provides the public with regulatory information not requiring complex interpretation. Answers and routes incoming calls to appropriate personnel and schedules appointments if requested information cannot be provided or interpretation of the regulations are required. Disperses building permits and septic permits, contractor's licenses, address issuance and driveway access applications. Provides information to the public and consultants. Collects application fees and prepares necessary reports, deposits, reconciles and balances accounts. Assists in the compilation of daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual department revenue reports. Performs content review of all building, septic and driveway access permits, notes obvious deficiencies and forwards them for review. Prepares, categorizes and maintains Excel files and other computerized filing systems, enters and updates information and cross-indexes all files. Prepares and maintains current computerized records of expiration dates for building and septic permits, and contractor's licenses. Mails copies of deficiency letters, notification of stop work orders and general correspondence to applicants and owners. Attends, takes and transcribes minutes for the Board of Appeals hearings. Prepares and mails all notification of expiration letters to all applicants and contractors within the time frames specified in the Regulations.

Qualifications:

Associate’s Degree; or one (1) to two (2) years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Requirements:

Valid and current Colorado Driver’s License.

Must be, or be able to obtain, a State of Colorado Notary Public.

International Code Council Building Permit Technician Certification preferred.
