Job Type: Full time, Hourly

Wage: $31-$48/hr. 

Location: Leadville, CO.

Job Description:

To maintain tires on site by conducting tire, rim and components inspections, calibrations, repairs and changes in accordance with site procedures/instruction whilst also adhering to schedules and plans. To work as part of a high performing team to deliver the safe and efficient servicing of our mining fleet to deliver the maintenance schedule.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure all incidents are reported in accordance with the Incident Reporting and Investigation Guidelines
  • Maintain a high standard of personal safety and demonstrate an awareness of, and commitment to, the safety of fellow employees and the environment
  • Comply with all site standards
  • Always report Fit for Duty
  • Promptly report hazards to Supervisors
  • Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures
  • Undertake work ensuring appropriate precautions are taken to eliminate or reduce risk to others and equipment
  • Work constructively with other employees (within crew, workshop, support staff, management), and be an active member of your crew
  • Maintain professional relationships with fellow employees and subcontractors
  • Service, repair and maintain mobile equipment tires
  • Diagnose tire/rim/wheel conditions as required
  • Remove and replace rim/wheel to vehicles
  • Perform regular tire inflation pressure checks / adjustments Understand what is expected in the role and strive to achieve performance expectations and agreed performance standards
  • Continue to develop and improve existing skills by participating in training initiatives, on-the-job training and coaching
  • Complete required pre-start inspections and other processes as required
  • Accurately record all required information as necessary
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area

DESIRED SKILLS

  • At least years experience tire fitting in the mining industry
  • Experience with wheel assemblies 57” and greater

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Authorization to work lawfully in the USA without sponsorship from Thiess is required
  • Must be fluent in the English language
  • Must pass a full physical medical examination

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Able to live and work at high altitudes (12,000 ft. elevation) for a week at a time
  • Able to work in extreme winter conditions with temperatures regularly below zero degrees Fahrenheit
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time, walk long distances, and climb ladders
  • Able to work for extended 12-hour shifts
  • No auditory or visual impairments restricting the ability to see distances while driving and clearly discern auditory and visual alerts/alarms (not including color blindness)
  • Quick response/reaction times
  • Arm-hand steadiness and manual dexterity

Work schedule:

  • 7 on / 7 off, rotating 12-hour shifts (days and nights)
  • Fly in / Fly Out (FIFO) – Preference for a candidate who lives near Denver, Colorado

EDUCATION

  • Tire handler training / 5000-23 sign off
  • Tire fitting authorizations or certificates from previous employment
  • State recognized tire fitting certificates / training courses
