Job Description
The Nutrition Assistant is responsible for the preparation and serving of school breakfast and lunch programs as well as related activities as assigned. The Nutrition Assistant will focus on health, safety, and compliance with nutritional guidelines, and includes tasks like cooking, cleaning, operating point-of-sale systems, handling inventory, and ensuring sanitary conditions to support student well-being and healthy eating habits.
Working hours will be Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Salida Middle School. This is a full-time position.
REQUIREMENTS
- Reports to the Kitchen Manager on a daily basis and to the Nutrition Services Manager regarding any matter beyond the typical daily operations
- Serves and prepares as needed all food required in the food services program
- Perform assigned responsibilities quickly in order to assist in other kitchen tasks when needed
- Cooperate and communicate with other school staff, parents, and students to promote a positive school climate
- Will be responsible for all aspects of food preparation keeping within sanitation guidelines
- Perform daily clean-up to include sweeping, mopping, wiping down counters, carts, cleaning sinks, and washing dishes
- Maintain a positive and team oriented attitude
