HRRMC has a Nurse Supervisor position open working PRN: on call as needed. shift may include This position will be required to work days and night shits. PRN employees are eligible for an 8% pay differential and are eligible for REACH Air membership, retirement savings plans and employee assistance program. Evenings, night and weekend shift differential will also be granted

SUMMARY

The Nursing Supervisor has 24/7 responsibility for the campus with support of unit managers and administration. The duties include provision of managerial and clinical links between the nurse managers and department directors in their absence and the administrator-on-call. Responsibilities require knowledge of hospital and nursing policies and procedures and utilization review rules and regulations for admission status guidance. Requires independent judgement in rapid decision making for optimal patient outcomes. This RN leader functions as a clinical resource for nursing staff, to supervise direct patient care in nursing units and other departments, and to perform delegated administrative and management functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES PER AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY

1. Maintains knowledge of activities in all nursing units, including admissions, discharges, condition of patients, adverse events and documents and distributes daily report.

2. Facilitates and promotes professional, respectful, and face to face communication at all times.

3. Communicates patient and employee concerns to Nurse Managers and Nurse Executive.

4. Monitors quality of care being provided in all nursing units.

5. Assists staff in providing direct patient care as necessary.

6. Performs nursing staff disciplinary activities as necessary.

7. Monitors and adjusts daily staffing in all nursing units to accommodate changing census and needs of the hospital.

8. Responds to all emergencies.

9. Provides a clean, safe and orderly environment for patients and employees.

10. Performs hospital security duties as assigned.

11. Provides breaks and meal periods to units where only one nurse is staffed.

12. Regularly attends nursing management meetings.

13. Assists with orientation of new employees.

14. Retrieves needed items for patients from central stores, pharmacy, medical records and dietary when those departments are closed.

15. Maintains positive communication and relationships with community referral agencies.

16. Provides other patient care and administrative duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directly supervises nursing staff during assigned shift.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems

Requirements

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Must maintain current, active license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Colorado.
  • Must maintain current CPR certification.
  • Must maintain current ACLS,TNCC,
  • PALS or ENPC NRP is required within 6 months from date of hire. Maintaining this certification is required however if there is a lapse due to expiration and timing of local course availability, the Nurse Supervisor will achieve re-certification within 6 months of the expiration

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Associate's degree (ADA); and minimum one year of experience which includes ER, ICU and/or OB.
  • BSN preferred.
