Mountain Valley Transit (MVT) is seeking several drivers to support the delivery of our transportation services in our region. The routes we are seeking drivers for allow for both full time and part time applicants to apply. Posting will be open for 30 days or until positions are filled.
GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
Under minimal supervision the Driver is responsible for the safe, efficient and compliant operation of assigned Mountain Valley transit (MVT) vehicles in the transportation of passengers on an assigned route or on specific pick up and drop off assignments. The Driver is also responsible for various operating and administrative activities including but not limited to daily logs, completion of mandatory and regulatory reporting, incident reports, fueling, daily vehicle inspection, and accurate reporting of time worked.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Responsible for the safe operation of assigned passenger vehicles for MVT.
- Perform daily vehicle inspection for any assigned vehicle the Driver operates and document on provided inspection forms.
- Execute assigned routes and passenger pick-up and drop-off with the dispatch team.
- Provide loading and unloading support to passengers with any disability or special needs in accordance with MVT policies and procedures.
- Responsible for completing all forms, documents, checklists, and recordkeeping associated with the assigned route and vehicle you drive.
- Responsible for keeping assigned vehicle(s) clean and refueled.
- Provide clear and accurate information about MVT routes and services to current and prospective passengers.
- Guide and direct all passengers on safety protocols and procedures during operation of assigned vehicles.
- Document and report all passenger concerns or complaints to management in a timely manner and in accordance with MVT policies and procedures.
ADDITIONAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Complete timely and accurate time reporting of all hours worked in the designated reporting system.
- As assigned, perform minor vehicle inspection and maintenance activities for MVT vehicles.
- Perform all duties in a professional and respectful manner, managing conflict in accordance with training, policies and procedures.
- Carries out duties while complying with MVT dress code policy.
- Adhere to MVT policy on appropriate communication and avoid discussing topics that would be inappropriate or cause conflict on the vehicle with a passenger.
- Carries out duties in compliance with all CDOT, federal and state regulations and guidelines.
- Successfully completes regulatory and job training requirements.
- Complies with all company and site policies and procedures.
- Remains current in profession and industry trends.
- Makes a positive contribution as demonstrated by: making suggestions for improvement and learning new skills, procedures and processes.
- Is available for other duties as required.
- Is available for overtime as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- None
QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be at least 20 years old.
- Have a valid Colorado driver's license with at least five years of driving experience.
- Have no history of license suspension or revocation within the previous five years.
- Must pass our driver training program (Passenger Assistance Safety and Sensitivity Training) within 3 weeks of hire.
- Upon hire, employee must provide Proof of Insurability.
- Successfully complete required CPR First Aid and Defensive Driving training within 2 months of hire.
- Must successfully complete and maintain all CDOT and Medicaid requirements including but not limited to federal, state, and local criminal and sex offender background check, motor vehicle report, FBI fingerprint clearance, drug testing, and physical exam.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and standard operating procedure manuals.
OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES OR QUALIFICATIONS
- Familiar with serving passengers who may need assistance entering and existing the transportation vehicle.
- Familiar with the rules and regulations associated with passenger transportation.
- Familiar with passenger vehicle inspection process to ensure safe operation.
- Computer skills: Work and be proficient with basic computer applications and training programs.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining speed of work and attention to detail without loss to production.
- Ability to work with others in a team environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to touch, handle or feel, and talk or hear.
- The employee is frequently required to sit for long periods of time and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
