Wage: $20-$25/hr.
Location: Leadville, CO.
Job Description:
Hours: Flexible 4-6 hours per week for the school calendar year; certain weeks with events such as concerts may have a few more hours.
Salary: $20-$25 per hour based on experience
Primary purpose: We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Piano Accompanist to support our high school and middle school choir programs The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with the choir director and students, contributing to a positive and productive musical environment.
Responsibilities:
Duties of this job include, but are not limited to:
- Rehearsals:
- Accompany choir rehearsals, ensuring students have the musical support they need.
- Help the choir director provide constructive feedback to help students improve their vocal techniques and musical skills.
- At times, helping with band rehearsals and concerts could be added.
- Recording Vocal Parts:
- Record vocal parts for choir members as needed for practice and performance preparation.
- Ensure recordings are clear for students to use for individual practice.
- Organizing Music Libraries:
- Maintain an organized library of sheet music for both band and choir, ensuring all materials are current and accessible.
- Assist in the selection and arrangement of music for performances and rehearsals.
- File and update spreadsheet with new additions.
- Concert Preparation:
- Accompany the choir during two major concerts, possible smaller concerts, and one or two festivals each year, including preparation and sound checks.
- Collaborate with the choir director on program selection and performance details.
- Choir Uniform Organization:
- Help organize and maintain choir uniforms, ensuring they are in good condition and properly fitted.
- Manage the distribution and collection of uniforms for concerts and events.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in piano with experience in accompanying vocal ensembles.
- Strong sight-reading skills and the ability to adapt to various musical styles.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Experience working with middle and high school students is preferred.
- Ability to follow a conductor
- Good, patient and positive rapport with students
- Must be able to pass required fingerprinting with state and federal governments
- Bilingual Spanish is preferred, and not necessary for hiring.
