Job Type: Seasonal internship, Hourly

Wage: $16/hr.

Location: Montrose, CO.

Job Description:

Under specific direction, provides a variety of administrative support for the Municipal Court such as answering and responding to phone calls, assisting customers and clients, cashier duties, setting up for court and attending court. Work under the general direction and guidance of the Lead Court Clerk. Must be able to work under minimal supervision and exercise sound independent judgment.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide customer service to Municipal Court customers and clients by receiving telephone calls, greeting walk in customers and responding to needs and questions.
  • Assist with courtroom setup and needs of judge during court.
  • Perform a variety of administrative duties including making copies, data entry, and cashiering.
  • Perform a variety of word processing duties, such as composing and/or typing correspondence and preparing documents.
  • Must always maintain confidentiality of clients.
  • Must be able to work Thursdays and a flexible schedule depending upon needs.

Job Requirements:

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Must have a positive welcoming attitude with excellent customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with Google Docs and Microsoft Office programs, including Excel and Word.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and work under strict deadlines in a fast paced environment.

Licensures & Certificates (must be active and current.):


  • High school diploma or GED and must be currently enrolled in an accredited university or college.
  • Driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:


The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Physical Demands:  
Moderate physical work requiring the ability to lift 25 pounds frequently and 40 pounds occasionally; frequent lifting, carrying, walking, standing and hand/eye coordination for operation of personal computer; vision for reading and preparing written reports and documents; frequent speech communication, hearing and listening to maintain communications with employees and citizens.

Work Environment:
Works primarily in a clean, comfortable environment with occasional exposure to outside elements.  Subject to many interruptions and pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries.  Routinely communicates with and meets with employees and citizens and must be able to travel back and forth between buildings to carry out necessary functions of this position.

Approximately 16 weeks and approximately 15 hours per week
