Job Type: Full time, Hourly

Wage: $17.52/hr.

Location: Canon City, CO.

Job Description

Performs a variety of duties to assist the public in the issuance of Motor Vehicle and off highway vehicle titles, registrations, license plates, Persons with Disabilities placards and the purging and titling of manufactured homes, ensuring the work performed is accurate, timely and properly submitted to the State following all applicable regulations, statutes and laws. Determines the required acceptable documents submitted for each type of transaction. Enters the data into the State computer system or returns incomplete paperwork to the customer with a detailed explanation of what is required without providing legal guidance. Assists with processing and rejecting renewals received by mail, online and delivery. Inputs the information into the State computer system, prints new registrations, issues tabs, stuffs envelopes and returns the renewals by mail timely. This includes, may not be limited to 2% Rentals, Special Mobile Machinery, fleets, dealers and bulk renewals. Assists with processing and rejecting liens and titles submitted from car dealerships or banks by mail and delivery from the back office when no customers are in the lobby. Makes certain all required paperwork is properly executed and correct fees have been submitted. If rejecting, ensures all areas have been checked and any and all problems have been addressed to prevent future rejects. Performs record searches and completes paperwork on manufactured home files that are requesting to be purged, sent in through the lien desk, when no customers are in the lobby. Follows up with the proper contacts and ensures it is completed to the end and eventually recorded in the Recording Department for public access and permanent retention. Assists in receiving, preparing, stocking and maintaining the inventory system of license plates and tabs to ensure accountability. Reports any discrepancies to the Supervisor immediately. Responsible for staying informed of any and all changes in new legislation, laws, statutes, forms and regulations mandated by both the State and County. Must review and acknowledge information provided by the supervisor through regular routing or electronic means. Assists in the Election Department when required and possibly becoming State certified in Elections by the direction of the County Clerk, Chief Deputy, and/or Election Director. Following up on correspondence and corrections with any State or County title rejects, ensuring each application is corrected and filed in a timely manner. Assists with balancing the cash drawer daily, checking accuracy of all monies collected including cash, check and credit cards to verify with the bookkeeper. May assist in training new personnel.

Minimum Qualifications: Level II – High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one (1) to two (2) years related experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Requirements/Information: Valid and current Colorado Driver’s License. Election Certification may be required. If Election Certification becomes a requirement a background check will be required.
