Job Description:

MT Section Leader

Must Have : Collaboration and Communication

  • Communicate effectively with pathologists, clinicians, and other laboratory personnel regarding test results and laboratory issues.

  • Participate in interdepartmental meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

Training and Development

  • Train and evaluate staff in proper testing techniques, instrumentation, and quality assurance procedures.

  • Assist with competency assessments and continuing education activities.

Your Role:

Section Oversight and Leadership

  • Oversee daily operations of the assigned laboratory section, ensuring workflow efficiency and timely completion of testing.

  • Serve as the technical resource and mentor for staff within the section.

  • Ensure all staff adhere to laboratory safety and quality policies.

Specimen Collection & Clerical Duties:

  • Collect and prepare specimens following prescribed guidelines, ensuring patient comfort and understanding.
  • Accession, label, and distribute specimens to appropriate lab departments.
  • Manage billing forms, lab requisitions, and patient records with accuracy.
  • Use computer systems for data input, storage, and retrieval.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Certification: ASCP, NCA, AMT, or equivalent national certification required.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of lab testing protocols, specimen handling, and quality control procedures.
  • Problem Solver: Ability to identify and address issues promptly and effectively.
  • Detail-Oriented: Commitment to maintaining accurate documentation and following procedures.
  • Team Player: Willingness to collaborate and assist with supervisory tasks as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in a chemical, physical biological or clinical laboratory science or meet other provisions defined in CLIA 42CFT 493.
  •  Two years’ experience preferred but not required

 CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • National recognized laboratory certification such as ASCP or AMT is required within 6 months of hire.
  • Current CPR/BLS Certification
