Job Description

Job Type: Full time, Hourly

Wage: $18-$22/hr.

Location: Canon City, CO.

Job Description:

The Medical Assistant at Button Family Practice, PC is a service oriented and medically informed assistant to our professional health care providers. Medical Assistants are instrumental in helping patients feel at ease in the clinic during scheduled appointments. The MA will take vitals, record chief complaints and other health issues, and ensure the patient charts are up to date. Patient interaction may include helping with procedures as requested by the Provider and will often explain the provider's instructions. In general, the MA is responsible for providing medical assistance and administrative support to ensure efficient operation of patient care in the medical office.

Duties

  • Welcoming and preparing patients for examination is your priority and should be completed timely.
  • Rooming patients as soon as possible and taking and recording all vital signs including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature.
  • Interview patients, recording patient chief complaint and other medical issues or histories.
  • Record current medications – both prescribed & OTCs
  • Making phone calls on behalf of Providers for inquiries or prescription necessities.
  • Meet with Provider to review information necessary for an effective patient visit.
  • Ensure all related reports, labs and other information related to the patient’s care are accurately filed and available in patient’s medical records prior to the appointment with Provider.
  • Assist the Provider during exams as needed
  • Coordinate with other healthcare staff to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain cleanliness in the clinical environment.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance patient care skills.

Skills

  • Proficiency in patient care practices in outpatient setting.
  • Proven working experience as a Medical Assistant
  • Familiarity with medical documentation standards.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients, families, and team members.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a busy rural health clinic environment.
  • Compassionate approach towards caring for patients of all ages.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
