Job Description
Position serves as the first and last level of defense for entry/exit points of the Detention Center. Responsible for monitoring control panels for cameras and doors within the jail and courthouse; operates the CBI (Colorado Bureau of Investigations) computer terminal. Controls and monitors all security cameras (internal and external) at the Detention Center and Courthouse facilities. Operates the control center by controlling all entry and exit into the secure perimeter of the Detention Center through entry and exit portals, sally ports, controlled areas and the courthouse. Monitors and clears alarms for life safety systems through active observation of the fire and water system control panels. Maintains the control and release of security keys, vehicle keys and impound keys. Receives warrants from courts, entering appropriate codes into computer system. Files and prepares working copies for deputies, communicates bonding information and cancels warrants when appropriate. Verifies information on inmates being released, job applicants, volunteers, visitors and blasting permit applicants with regard to driver’s license, warrants and criminal history reports. Maintains a daily log of all incoming and outgoing agencies, attorneys, and volunteers through the facility. Will log all movements of the inmates to courts, treatment and other activities. Answers all incoming telephone lines and directs calls to proper department or employee. Transfers calls requesting the assistance of Patrol Deputies to the Regional Dispatch Center for processing. Provides general information to the public and to visitors. Master Control Operators may assist Detention Deputies with searching and dressing out inmates of the same gender. When acting in this capacity, the Master Control Operators assume all authority held by Detention Deputies.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of three (3) months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Requirements:
- Valid and current Colorado Driver’s License.
- Required certifications within six (6) months of employment: Operator Security Number (OSN), Colorado Crime Information Center (CCIC), National Crime Information Center (NCIC). First Aid and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training required.
- Must be 21 years of age.
