Procedure for application:
This is a unique position at Salida Middle School. The employee works under the direction of the school Principal. The employee supervises the lunchroom area during all lunch periods and works outside during recess as a support person. During afternoon non-lunch times, the employee will be a substitute Teacher and/or paraprofessional as needed.
General work hours are 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for lunch coverage and 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. for classroom support, Monday through Thursday.
Other responsibilities include:
- Assists with small group or individual instruction.
- Maintain strict privacy and confidentiality.
- Be flexible and compassionate in dealing with students, teachers and with the community.
- Applicants should have effective “people skills.”
- Applicants should have general knowledge of computers.
REQUIREMENTS
- Supervise each grade level lunch period inside and outside during recess
- Maintain confidentiality at all times
- Work effectively and create a positive rapport with students, staff, administration, parents and community members
- Work as an in-building substitute teacher/paraprofessional when not covering lunch periods
- Great candidates are flexible with job assignments, are punctual and like working with middle school-aged students
- Experience working with children
