Job Description

Job Type: Full time, Part time, Hourly

Wage: $15.70-$24.77/hr.

Location: Westcliffe, CO.

Job Description:

The primary responsibilities of the Sales Associate position are to maintain outstanding customer service, generate sales throughout the store, build purchase orders and invoice customers with correct product, be able to direct customers on basic building techniques, process sales quickly, accurately, and efficiently with cash register operations.

Major Responsibilities

  • Ensure each customer receives outstanding customer service which follows the S.A.L.E.S process and by mystery shop standards
  • Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements
  • Execute the daily operational, day-to-day goals and priorities assigned by store management
  • Assist in the training and development of peers
  • Actively participate in store meetings
  • Uphold merchandising and store cleanliness standards
  • Participate in the processing of new shipments and help the team to keep the receiving and back stock area clean organized
  • Be aware of and responsive to safety issues
  • Be conscious of shoplifting activity
  • Aid customers in locating merchandise in store, on acehardware.com, as well as processing special orders
  • Solicit customers of open Ace Rewards card
  • Answer customers’ questions and provide information on procedures and policies
  • Complete all training programs as implemented by the Store Manager
  • Execute inventory management protocol as established by the Store Manager
  • Achieve sales goals as implemented by the Store Manager
  • Adhere to all store safety policies Identify “dead” inventory and develop a plan for selling “dead” products
  • Greet customers as they enter the store
  • Answer phone calls
  • Tactfully and pleasantly deal with customers
  • Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements
  • Accurately and efficiently ring on registers and maintain all cash at registers
  • Maintain orderly appearance of register area and supplies stocked
  • Perform other tasks as assigned from time to time by store management
  • Solicit customers to open an Ace Rewards card Issuing receipts, refunds, credits or change due to customers
  • Extensive product knowledge on building materials
  • Able to direct customers on basic building techniques
  • Inventory accountability and ordering product from vendors
  • Counting, verifying documents and receiving product
  • Building purchase orders and invoicing customers with correct product

Requirements

Education/Training:

  • High School degree, some college preferred.
  • Possess product knowledge of hardware related products along with a willingness to learn.

Experience:

  • Sales and marketing experience with retail programs, establishing relationships and working with customers
  • Previous experience in a retail environment either in marketing, sales, or back office

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of retail computer systems, electronic cash registers, MS Word and Excel a plus
  • A commitment to service excellence and customer satisfaction
  • Solid team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills exceptional organizational skills, high attention to detail, and ability to multitask
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the business
  • Ability to stand for an extended period of time
  • Move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store Climbing step stools and ladders up to 10’ Lifting product, including bagged goods and lumber materials, up to 40lbs
