Wage: $40,000-$42,000/yr. Or $19.23-$20.19/hr.

Job Description

The Lube Technician will perform a variety of scheduled maintenance tasks to gasoline or diesel powered automotive, heavy equipment and other power-driven equipment including changing tires, oil and filters and general vehicle maintenance; and does related work as required.

General Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Drains oil from crankcase and refills with required amount of oil on light and heavy equipment.
  • Replaces oil and air filters.
  • Inspects vehicle fluid levels, replaces or replenishes as necessary.
  • Checks tire pressure and adds air if needed.
  • Lubricates moving parts with specified lubricants.
  • Communicates with supervisor to obtain needed parts.
  • Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Documents all work performed on the work order.
  • Participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs as assigned by supervisor.
  • Notifies service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
  • Keeps shop area neat and clean. Maintains and is accountable for all county-owned tools and manuals.
  • Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as when they were received.
  • Understands and complies with federal, state and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know etc.
  • Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Reports any safety issues immediately to management.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • A clean driving record.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must have a strong work ethic.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships and customer service protocol with other County employees, representatives of other agencies and organizations, and the public.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Meet physical requirements established by Department of Transportation, and pass drug and alcohol screening.
  • Preferred bilingual in English and Spanish.
