Job Type: Seasonal, Hourly

Wage: $17/hr.

Location: Mesa, CO.

Job Description:

Responsible for prepping and preparing all food items as outlined within Sunset Grille menu, and special menus as necessary, and for ensuring daily supplies are on hand and available by pulling needed items from storage, refrigerator, and/or freezer, focusing on exceptional customer service and working safely.

Primary Responsibilities/Duties 

  • Cleans food preparation and production areas as needed, but at a minimum at the beginning and end of each shift
  • Always follows safe food handling procedures, including ensuring that raw meat does not come into contact with other food items
  • Operates large-volume cooking equipment such as grills, deep-fat fryers, or griddles
  • Prepares and presents food according to guests’ requests
  • Pre-cooks and packages batches of food that may be kept warm until sold (i.e., bacon), ensuring cooked food is maintained at the appropriate temperature
  • Works on several different orders simultaneously, managing order flow by starting food items with longest cooking time first, then shorter cooking times next, while also prepping plates with items that require no cooking time (i.e., lettuce, tomato, onion for hamburgers); ensures that the entire customer order is ready at the same time
  • Prepares specialty foods, such as pizzas and sandwiches, following specific methods that are designed to reduce preparation time
  • Other duties as assigned within the Food & Beverage area, including restocking and food/beverage delivery

  • Current Mesa County Food Handlers Certification
  • Seasonal Orientation
  • All Safety Training related to position, including company-wide safety processes and procedures

Work Environment

This position is based both inside and outside and is exposed to temperature extremes (above 85 degrees and below 20 degrees), sun and wind, inclement weather (rain, snow, ice) and high altitudes (8200+ feet).   Exposure to chemicals, including disinfectants, used in washing and cleaning.   Must be able to walk on even/uneven/slippery terrain, climb/descend stairs, stand and/or sit for long periods of time, bend, stoop, reach, and lift a minimum of 40 pounds.
